fdjizm...the mustang still wont touch the camaro in terms of trap speed with those 3 mods. It will get very close with ET (averages...dont forget someone has run a 12.6 with stock maro) due to it being an easier car to launch with less power.

And you are talking about cars with those 3 mods and the best possible times.

What about the camaros best stock times?...do those mustangs run a 12.6 with cai, cat-back and tune? I dont think so. Not without drag radials...even then I doubt it.

I have seen posts on other websites of 05-10 mustangs with full bolt ons and cam changes that are still only trapping 111-112.

So what do you think it will run in the mags when it comes out?

Some mags are only running 12.8 with gt500 cars with over 500 horsepower. We all klnow they are capable of much more but im just saying.

Simple math. 3600 pound car and 400 horsepower. 3860 pound car. 426 horsepower. That makes it pretty much a dead even race. Sorry to burst your bubble.

think what you want....i am more than sick of explaining simple math and trap speed importance every other day on this site.

I read this and was about to post to ask you where you found that cause I couldn't believe I missed it....

Then I looked at the track times in the stickies on the track section...

1. nhra stocker - 12.43 @ 112.02, (LS3, M6), (corrected time, DA + 1395 ft.)

Ok that was unofficial, Official is
1. nhra stocker - 12.62 @ 110.30, (LS3, M6)

Ok, Still!

mrray13 is correct... the 2010 Mustang is still the 4.0 V6 and is only 210HP... it's the 2011 V6 Stang that gets the new 3.7L 305HP V6... Job # is like March 15th 2011... Should start seeing them on the road some time in April...

Now.. as far as the 2010... I have not actually sat in a 2010... so I have no idea on the creature comforts... I will say a 2010 V6 Mustang will be quite bit slower than our Camaros... I've beaten ever NA V6 Mustang I've come up against...

Wasn't that the one where he had the K&N and had replaced all the fluids with royal purple? not that they made that much of a difference, but it can't be called stock. Just thought I'd throw that out there

the 2010 interior is VERY nice for the stang. My brother has an 05 and i have my baby. Weve compared both with a fine tooth comb. The Camaro is a great car which has more power and better exterior design guarenteed. The ride of the Camaro is MUCH smoother and feels much more expensive. My friend just bought a 2010 GT fully loaded and on the road, it cost 8k less then mine! Anyways we were looking at both and some people are just mustang guys, and some are just camaro guys.
The 2011 stang is a great buy, great price and finally some good engines.
The v6 stang will have better performance then us but overall, im sure that the ride will not be as smooth as the Camaro. All of my friends have been in and out of my Camaro, brothers stang, and my friends 10 stang and they still say handsdown that the camaro is not only better looking, but that it feels and looks much more expensive then it really is.
Id be glad that my friend got a stang because not only is a great american car, but its different then my Camaro and im a guy who really likes to be different, sounds selfish but i wouldnt want my friends driving around in a Camaro too.

How is a fully loaded 2010 GT $8K less than your 2LT/RS? Quick search of the local Ford dealers inventory showed one 2010 GT and it was $36,400... Stick on my 2LT/RS was just over $30K...

Back in th winter of 2006 JPC and Mustang Mag did a little bolt on test with the S197 at English Town. Justin, was able to run a 12.5 in the red stang at 108mph. The mod's were minimal...CAI and 93 tune, 1pc ds, Bogarts/ET Streets, BMR radiator delete and stock 3:55 gears

Gene K, who owns an 07 GT(manual/3.55 gears/stock tires), Ran 12.957 1/4 with only a CAI and a tune. Plus he weights over 300 lbs

TorchedGT - 12.70 @ 108mph w/CAI, CMDPs, offroad x and underdrive pulleys.. (Stock Tires/Gears)

xtweakerx - 12.66 C&L intake, 4.10 Gears + Steeda Under Drive Pullies, Off-Road H-Pipe (Stock Tires)

Stock 2010 Stock with just a mailorder tune runs 13.1 (Automatic)

Konablue10Gt
2010 Gt - 4.56's Long tube,s O/R H-pipe, K&N intake, elec w/p, alum d/s, Hot Rod cams,GT500 T/B, 28x10.50x15 ET Drags 11.96@114
http://s197forum.com/forum/showpost....postcount=1171

Before he got a Tune and more Mods All he had for his 12.50's was the off road x-pipe, drop in K&N filter, Slicks and skinnies, removed front sway bar and spare tire.

He also is in this Months 5.0 Mag

BTW CAT back or Axle Back Exhaust does NOTHING for the S197 Mustang, just changes the sound. It's All in the Mid-Pipe..

Nice ET....close to what I thought was possible but that car had a few more mods than what I listed. Still trapping less than a stock camaro with tune, cai, one piece drive shaft, weight reduction and tires. Nice job though...it is up to some of the best STOCK ls1 f-body traps finally.

Thanks for proving my point.

How did he prove your point? He gave you a bolt on mustang that runs better times than the best stock camaro time...unless that was your point, that mustangs can be faster than camaros with very little work.

But Again the Camaro has over 1 Liter on the Mustang, It will Trap higher because 1) More HP 2) More Torque

If the Mustang had a Larger Cube Motor it would trap higher.

Look at SPYDER7724 5.4 L 3 Valve Build 10.91 @ 124.2mph N/A
http://s197forum.com/forum/showthrea...ght=SPYDER7724
The Iron Block adds 300 lbs froma Triton Truck Motor.

I agree, that the Trap speeds will be lower on the mustangs because of the smaller motor and the times are made up in the 60' area.

I run 12.299 @ 110 on Stock Motor with DR's and cut 1.7 60' times.
if I run with stock tires I can only run 12.6's @ 108 with 1.8 60' times.

Will the 5.0L 2011 Mustang Trap higher that 6.2L Camaro.... No probably not
will a 400hp 3600 lb Mustang get better 1/4 times than a 425hp 3860lb Camaro? probably...

At least the Camaro is Back and the debate is continuing, I am glad the Mustang Success brought back the Camaro and resurgence of the Muscle era, with the Challenger, Charger and Formally the GTO.. These are good times again (From a GM Guy) Thanks to the S197 Mustang....

But what about this one
2010 Mustang GT - No Tune 12.511@108.58 with Just
drop in K&N filter (Stock intake just replaced filter)
off road x-pipe (Removed the CATS)
Slicks and skinnies (Traction and weight reduction)

sure he removed front sway bar and spare tire.
but we all remove the Spare and Jack. the sway bar helps tranfer weight tothe rear.

He said..
Quote:

Not the Mods he listed but still very little was done to get a 12.51 timeslip,
and like I said, Cat back or Axle back exhaust does nothing for times on these cars unlike the camaro.
Ford did a good job on the exhaust in these cars.

What Works for the Camaro may not work with the Mustang, the 2010 has a perfect intake, so filter is all it needed.
DR's was on the list but he said nothing about skinnies. there is one different mod,
then he listed Cat back, well mustangs put an off road H or X pipe in to remove the Cats. so we will place that in the Cat back area. now since he had no tune we will add that back to the mustang.

My Point is that there is mustangs running the same times as the camaro with the minimal mods listed
