Question for those who have plasti dipped your rims: how much of the inside of the wheel did you do? And how did you do the inside (barrel)?

I just did a light spraying inside the rims. I didn't even mask the back side.

One thing tho....make sure you pull the tape up immediately after spraying or it will pull at the product. i waited about 45 sec (srsly) on my first try and had to redo it. The stuff came off absolutely no problem. It took me 2 hours to do everything, including the redo, masking, AND clean up. Awesomenesssss sorry the pics aren't so great they're from my phone OH and I totally eyeballed the masking job. I think it was pretty good if I do say so myself
how did you go about masking your hood to do the spears? did you cover the rest of your hood and leave the spear part of the hood exposed?

Hey guys I really want to plasti dip my rims and I'm going to real soon.. But before I do I have some questions - when you paint the rims front side (where the bolts go in) you do around 3-4 coats.. But when it comes to the inside part did you flip over to paint the inside or just spray inside whilst it faces upward (where the bolts go in)..

Is it a pain to remove off the rims if you don't like the finished product?

Also, how long should I wait before bolting the wheels back onto the car and driving on it?

Thanks a bunch!

I flipped it first and painted the inside, one solid coat. just a quick layer to give it that black look inside. then I let it dry and started my 3 to 4 coats on the actual rim (bolts up). you dont really have to touch the inside if you dont want to...i just wanted a complete clean look.

and NO, its not a pain to remove very easy actualy. just start peeling like skin after a good sunburn.

And wait about an hour or two before bolting the wheels back on. just dont put crazy pressure on the paint. I've done a couple sets of rims and one buddy was crazy enough to have me paint them on the car and he drove off...its still perfectly intact. so to be a normal person, wait an hour, bolt em on, drive the next morning. or let it settle for like 3 hours and go.

It's fun and easy to RE-DO! remember that

Ahhh so I'm scared to do this.. I tried it out on the pole of a broom stick.. I did two coats to it and it came out not so pretty - either I'm a terrible spray painter or retarded - because I gave it like 35 minutes to dry between the coats.. and I made them thick like everyone says to do. >_>

Now I'm nervous to do it to the car - did you guys do it inside a garage? Or can it be out in the open?

And are you sure it's easy to peel off?? Cause the broom stick was a pain in the ass to remove!

did mine today, though i would share!
before

after
FYI I DID NOT tape off the tire, just layed down the plasti-dip and when it dried I just peeled it off the tire and wiped up the overspray! worked like a charm
