I was thinking of going with the CAI inc. until reading this whole thread. Convinced to get the Vararam now. Anybody out there running the Vararam with a ported TB? If so do you think the ported TB adds more to this intake or would provide more gains on a 90 degree system like the CAI inc.?

I have both the VMax TB and VaraRam. Still have the dyno scheduled for 9:00 tomorrow morning. It has been illuded to that the Vmax and VR is a great combination and better than the 90 degree types, but I don't know that anyone has provided any hard data...yet. Tomorrow, I'm only swapping air intakes.

One of the Corvette magazines tested the ported TB and Halltech CAI on a Vette, of course, and the ported TB and Halltech had a 1 hp increase over the Halltech alone. It's posted as a link on the VMax website, I believe. No one's tested it with the Vararam. Yet.

I have no hard data (before and after dyno) but I've been running this combo for about 6 months. I would say they compliment each other very well. The throttle response while already good with just the vararam, is even better with the Vmax. My best time of 12.25 was done with this combination. I also believe I could of done better but I'll never know.

I just put the Vmax Ported Throttle body of my car (about 1 hour ago). I'm hoping to hit the track on Sunday to see if I can beat my 12.23 @ 113.56 mph run. I'm also running a Vararam intake (original unit - tune only).

The roads are wet outside or I'd be road testing the new Throttle body. But hopefully everything works out and I get a chance to run my car this weekend. I'm hoping for a 12.1x @ 114 mph run.

The scoop and washer bottle are still in the shipping box, hopefully I can get a decent price to cover the cost of the Vararam intake.

UPS was running late tonight,I just took possession of my Vararam intake .This will be my Sunday project.

i like the look, and the reviews are great. but i have a question: it seems based on the position of the vararam, it would make a functioning ramair hood pointless as most of those hoods filter air to where a normal CAI would be placed. what do you guys think about this?

You are correct. The Vararam gets it's air from the upper portion of the grille area, and wouldn't tie in with a ram air hood. Not that the hood wouldn't be sweet and may be able to help dissapte under hood heat...
