Just as a side note the new 5.0 developement started in mid-late 2006, pre-Camaro era.

However, what cannot be argued is that the Camaro sped up the 5.0's rebirth. If it werent for the Camaro we would likely have not seen the 5.0's rebirth until the current 2012 MY vs. 2011

I have just seen pictures of the most insane S197 Mustang ever. It is the 2013 Cobra Jet and it is sporting a new engine (probably the 2013 SVT engine) and has the largest hood scoop I have ever seen. Just had to throw that out there... I will do some digging on the engine, I will do info swaps over private messages. Something is in there... something really, really big (Twin valley turbos? or a direct CAI for a big 4000 TVS?)

Edit: I have been told that the pre-production scoop is just to cover the test engine, the real scoop will be fitted properly.

Edit #2: I have info on the cosmetic changes to the 2013 Mustang.

You mean this hideous monstrosity?

Or this slightly more tame, but still gaudy version:

Which was accompanied by this engine info:

2012 Cobra Jet also comes with Manley H-beam connecting rods, Strange Engineering brakes, a double keyed crankshaft snout, and black anodized wheels with Goodyear tires. 2012 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet is a new version of the legendary Cobra Jet turn-key racer. The vehicle is based on the 2010 model and features a new 5.4 liter V8 with 2.3-liter TVS supercharger or an optional 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger.

edit: Oops, I see the second pic and info are for the 2012 version, not the 2013. So the hideous monstrosity it is

That is it, whatever is under the hood requires a lot of extra clearance. That is a pre-production scoop and although it is hideous, the real surprise is under that scoop. That engine is the ZL1 killer and the king of the S197's... I have heard about the final scoop design but, I will save that for another site.

Maybe you can help out some of the SVTP members who think there's not going to be a 5.8L coyote especially since the PTWA aluminum block is only 2 years old.

SVTP: 2013 Shelby GT500 - Gets a TVS blown stroked 5.0 motor to 5.8.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be the same gt500 5.4 liter stroked to a 5.8, not a 5.0 stroked to a 5.8. Both those hoods look horrendous though, the new body style has a fantastic hood, as does the gt500 variant. Would the stroke/bigger supercharger really require such a drastic change?

No way that scoop would ever be put on a production street car. That's a cobra jet. Looks like some kind of intercooler setup. . .

I was being facetious haha, but I was being serious where would a bigger stroke/supercharger require a abnormally large hood

Increasing the stroke will make for a taller engine, increasing bore will make it wider and increase area for valve size in the head. I don't think that scoop has anything to do with the block's physical size though. IMO it's more likely an intercooler/heat exchanger scoop. . . Remember the cobra jet doesn't run the same forced induction setup as the conventional gt500, so they very well could be moving to a turbo setup. Might be a v or top mount intercooler setup under there.

I dont see any checks coming to me in the mail from GM for supporting them, thus when it comes to car purchasing Im a free agent. So whomever makes the better next gen stang/camaro, Im on their team.

Thus I like getting info right here on C5, our home, on the next gen stang. Pill is doing all the work for you, be happy.
To me it was Camaro or nothing...if the 5th gen was never made I'd still be driving my Alero. No disrespect for Mustangs (or Challengers)....they're awesome cars. I just don't have any interest in owning one.

I think I've read the new 5.8s use a bigger bore with the same spray-liner as is currently used, along with a TVS blower. I can't imagine an even longer stroke than the 5.4 already has, but there's room to bore the 5.4 aluminum block... People have machined out the spray-liner, and installed Darton sleeves to get 360" from the current GT500 block. Here's one:

BTW - here's some eye & ear candy for those not ashamed to check out this 2012 SuperSnake: http://www.fliqz.com/aspx/permalinkb...1-ed75a8552701

could you imagine a 5.8 liter tall deck, coyote based supercharged engine? just larger cubes would put the 5.8 liter coyote in 392 hemi power range.
