the news has filtered out of the call as well, notably the real horsepower figures are 426 HP for the LS3 V8 in the Camaro SS and 400 HP in the L99-equipped Camaro. If you're in the market you'll be happy to know pricing discounts will be available from the get-go (why not just change the pricing?). Finally, if you've already placed your Camaro order, GM is expecting to have all 10,000 pre-orders completed by sometime in October.

Sorry some others mis-represented.
So, with that being said about the Corvettes being controlled in a similar way, if my dealer is allocated 1-2 Z06's a year even though they are a small dealership, in theory would that get them at least one V8 allocation?

Gonna be giving them a call here in a few to see if anyone watched both IDL's anyway...

NO ONE should have got an impression they would get a car by a certain time - that was never promised.
AMEN. You guys are like a bunch of cry babies. You had to be the first to have something, had to be the first to order, and you keep throwing your number in line at your local dealer around like that somehow entitles you to something. Guess what...it doesn't. You will be the guinea pigs and I've been saying that since day one. This is just the first sting of many and you should come to expect it if you wanna be first. It comes with the territory. I've been there done that myself and learned to wait and avoid the frustration. If you're going to get this upset over a 4 week delay, you should cancel your order.

You guys who have to be first need to set your expectations accordingly. Further delays are quite likely, and should be expected. This is a brand new design on a brand new line. There are going to be problems pre and post delivery. Set that expectation now and accept it to avoid more personal frustration and you'll be better for it.

Me, I've decided from day one to wait until model year number 2. I'll get the car cheaper, with more features, and won't go through any of these growing pains with delays and problems. Patience goes a long way gents.

I doubt that too unless GM puts a stipulation on that one car that it can't be sold for X number of days. I'd bet they sell them right away.

Camaro was based on TOTAL Chevrolet sales and Mustang registrations in your dealers area. The only thing Corvette played into it was part of Chevrolet numbers.

There should be a press release about this with all of the facts at minimum.

I don't know if fbodfather's presence as a visible member of the Camaro community was part of GM's plans for the marketing and community involvement of GM but he has become the face of GM to the community. Like it or not, that's the case. I feel like GM's marketing department, more than any other, is failing miserably. They chose to bring the car out over summer. They chose to allow preorders. They need to provide information to the community. They tried to go about the process in a new way that had never been done before but they half-assed it; they are only doing HALF of the things in new ways. Why hasn't there been a press release about this? Official word should have come from GM at the start of the first IDL today. The IDL should have been broadcast on the internet to anyone who was interested enough to watch it. I don't care if it was supposed to be for dealers... this isn't the 1970s anymore!!! They started off strong (podcast on the day ordering started for example) but have been completely absent as of late.

If you want a reference to see how having a community contact and face for a product can be done successfully, look at "Major Nelson" for the Microsoft's Xbox. He started off similar to how fbodfather did (just posting on websites, etc) but has transcended that into being the official voice for the Xbox team. GM and the Camaro team could benefit GREATLY from something like that. It doesn't mean telling everybody everything. It just means being honest about what you can and cannot say and telling people that.

If you don't have any information to provide SAY THAT. Don't just sit there quietly collecting preorders!

And one more thing... there should have been NO ROOM for confusion among the dealers on the limits of SS vs v6. If their allocation is for 70% v6 and 30% SS, they should have been told that in a clear manner up front.

So..what your saying is...that if you had pre ordered a 2SS..you wouldn't be pissed at the fact you might not get it till 2010? That would be just fine by you?

I was wondering the same thing.

Forgive me if anything I say has been posted already but I am posting from page 5 . I am at work and haven't had time to read the whole thread.

Maybe if we are lucky, and I am speaking for those of us who don't care about a few extra pounds, maybe this delay will allow enough time to get ABL, NAV and HUD. Doesn't hurt to hope. The delays suck but I wouldn't be able to take delivery of mine till May anyway. We will still have snow here in Colorado thru April anyway. I would love to have it now but I can wait.

I still don't understand that statement. Let's take for granted the following for a moment:
They are going to make the cars V6, V8 in equal amounts (50/50).
There are 10,000+ pre-orders running roughly 80% V8.
They can make at least 5000 cars a month at Oshawa. It was written they can make 400-500 A DAY at full production.
The first month will be slower (2500 ?)

That should equate to:
month 1-> 1250 V6 1250 V8
month 2-> 2500 V6 2500 V8
month 3-> 2500 V6 2500 V8
month 4-> 2500 V6 2500 V8

By the end of month 4, they've made 8,750 of each, right? So if there are currently 8000 V8s on order, the orders should all be filled by the end of July. What am I missing?

Building 50/50 seems like insanity to me...they think only the hardcore Camaro fans want the SS? Try again GM...regular people are going to see the stats on both cars and want the SS also.

GM should go at least 60/40 on V8/V6 production...

They shut the plant down in July.

Great way to run a business

OMFG.... they have a brief clip of the animation that shows HUD in the IDL!!!!!!!! Are they that dumb or does this mean HUD is coming? I'm guessing the former.
