Re-installed my light today so the car sat for about three weeks. Turned the key and she started right up, but I could feel it was a little weak. Drove her for just over an hour, mostly hi-way, to get a really good charge. I don't think I'll let her sit more than two weeks since the temps are dropping which I'm sure is even harder on the battery. So I really don't have a drain issue as of yet, if I let her sit for more than three weeks I just might.

Your problem may have any thing to do with the the tail lights. You have about a .4 ma draining from your battery from the radio alarm systems when the key is off.

I'm aware of the Electrical Vampires in the system, just have no idea as to how long it would take to drain even without these lights. Probably a good idea to get myself a battery tender just incase I get buried in a snow storm and can't get out for a spin to recharge. I'll check eBay and have a look to see what they go for.

How long have you had your lights installed?

Installed mine I think it was back in April or May, 2013.

If you have these lights, it's probably the best idea to just purchase and use a battery tender or other charger attached to keep your battery fresh if you plan to let the car sit unstarted for more than a week. It seems most people here with the draining issue have the problem at about 1.5-2 weeks of the car sitting, as I did as well.

The manufacturer evidentally stated that the lights draw a small amount of power when the car is off, and it will happen to every owner of these taillights if installed how their directions state. Some people don't have the issue, but they may not let the car sit long enough for the problem to occur.

Also, it doesn't seem to make a difference at all whether or not show mode is installed on a switch. The battery drain still occurs regardless.

I usually took a little more than two weeks. Now that I don't drive it much, I have the battery tender hooked up so no problem. I assume the combination of the alarm and the tail lights was the culprit.

That is what I thought. My thought was that if I had to park and leave the car during heavy traffic, I could leave the flashers on. If the power is off with the ignition then that is not possible. Turning the parking lights on may fix that. It is going to be 6 degrees here, so when it warms up I think I will try the rewire and see what happens.

That answered all of my questions.

Thank you!

here it what i did ....i wired the tail light power direct to the aux port in the console to prevent the drain on the battery, everything works fine but to make the hazzards stay on you must have ignition to the on position....

Did you try just turning the parking lights or headlights on ( no key) then the hazards?
