Jalopnik made a guess, and now people are taking it as gospel.

Really? They seem to get their information from sites like C5 and such.... how many times were they wrong about performance numbers and other things?

I suppose it is possible, but I hope not.... being over 2 tons is not a good thing for a sports/muscle car

Being under 4000 is about as likely as it being 4200+

It seems like a long long time ago, that GM created a "Legend in its' own time"
Wasn't it sixty-eight, sixty-nine, and seventy that was our generations version of "shock and awe"? It was so long ago it seems.

GM, you ARE doing it again, helping me realize my dreams.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Nominated, late, as POTD! I wasn't around to enjoy those times, but I know that's where I should've been. This is as close as I think we're going to get back to those times and I want to take advantage and enjoy.

Thank you GM !

Don't know about all the technical magazine and bench racing talk in this thread. Some of it is beyond my knowledge and comprehension.

I tend to look at track potential and therefore, I draw your attention to the last 2 GrandAM GT category racing (season final last Saturday on Speed TV channel).

The Stevenson Camaro posted this last win on the 3 hour race.
Especially near the end of the last race, after surviving cautions and some obvious blocking by other drivers trying to assist their fellow mfg car drivers. The Stevenson Camaro simply out-powered and took the lead in the straight part of the course.

PS: Not sure where all the Mustangs were. I must have missed them in all the other Camaros, Corvettes, Porshes, Mazdas. etc.
Oh, and don't forget the ALMS. I remember seeing some live racing (?testing?) of the Boss 302 during early 2011 races, but don't know if they had to go back to the drawing board, or what happened honestly. Maybe the tracks were unsuitable?

Ready for some feedback. I can handle it. Trying to be factual with what I was able to witness on TV.

Supercharger, bracing, heavy-duty drivetrain, tougher suspension, bigger brakes, HD transmission, HD differential, the eleventy-billion coolers, increased fluid capacity...

Aftermarket people have the benefit of not having to adjust the rest of their cars when they add something like a supercharger. With a company like GM...they up the power by 150...and EVERYTHING else involved has to change to support it. A full 30% of the vehicle was redesigned/re-engineered.

Interestingly, they seem to be taking a head-on interest in weight savings where posssible...focused, lightweight wheels (versus normal OEM), carbon fiber in the hood...and anywhere else they can find it.

When the final weight is released - I hope to be pleasantly surprised...but I'm also not expecting to see something unrealistic (imo) like 3900lbs.
