Frankfurt is a confusing place to get around... just wait until you have to return the rental car... with a co-pilot it makes it easier but flying solo I took two laps around to find the turn off. Enjoy the hospitality and the food/beer... those Germans know how to do it right.

Meriva, and not the new one. I'm the navigator with a TomTom. But it's funny to be driving on wet roads with 30 degree temps and going 70 mph in the middle lane only to get past in the left lane by somebody going 90 plus. YIKES!!!!!

well it's good to be back in the states. although it's cold like it is in england. I just wish I had stopped in germany. I would have rented a car and drove over to the ring. and maybe even ran in to you no 3. go half way around the world to meet people. . .lol.

Home safe and sound. Good trip. A bit nervous on the flight back when the captain asked crew to buckle up but only lasted a short while.
Good to be home.

Ok, quick summary of Germany.
Parking is TIGHT. You need a small car just for parking. Suburbans might as well be moving vans. Gas is about 1.40 Euros per Liter. Diesel is cheaper. When it's snowing you still get passed by people going 100 plus in the left lane. All young German women seem to wear skin tight jeans. Hotel rooms are small. Good God almighty can I get some ice in my Diet Coke................ Water can be had with Gas and with More Gas..............fizzy water Food is good once you know what you are ordering. The scam there is you sell cars with summer tires, then make it a law that you have to chage to winter tires by a certain date. It seems they are just discovering all season tires. But who wants to drive 140 on the autobahn is all season tires. ![]() Germans are friendly and most speak enough english that you can get buy and most restaurants are not offended if you ask for an english menu. Can you imagine a German coming here and asking for a german language menu? LOL There road and highway signs take some getting used to. Not bad, just different. They have NO billboards on the highway that I can see. A good TomTom will save you. Pay the 4 euros per day or bring your own. Frankfort Airport simply SUCKS!!!! I saw one Mustang and no Camaros. Beer is a universal language. And Germans seem to be proud of their own. Maybe more than wine and Germans also do nice wine. Pickup trucks are more rare than anything. I still can't imagine other countries haven't picked up on them. Not even many small trucks there. There are wayyyy more vans there than here. Here if you want a big van you get a Chevy, Ford or Chrysler. There? More brands than I can recount. But lots of different ones and different sizes. Oh, and did I mention Frankfort Airport sucks? A conspicuos absence of Toyotas, Hondas or Hyundais. Just not very many Japanese cars at all.

If I recall correctly, Toyota was having a ton of problems getting cars sold in Europe. Makes me smile.
![]() I trust there were many Opels? How's the Cruze doing over there?

Of course the other great thing is to see all of the Mercedes and BMW Taxis. Brand new E-Class Taxis. ![]() I didn't see any Cruzes on the road while I was there. Oh, and sadly there is a pair of Bose Noise Canceling Headphones somewhere in Germany that didn't make the trip back:(
