No, last year it was obvious that the Camaro has the advantage because of the Mustang's anemic engines lineup in 2010, all the money in the world would have not convinced me back then that 210 hp mustang is faster than a 304hp Camaro and same with the V8.

Point is, get what you want, not what others say you should get.

The only way you will get a better performing car is to spend the money on a "Premium Muscle Car". Shelby's and Roush's aren't cheap and the Z28 wont be either.

Stock top of the line, get your Mustang and then cry when people like me smoke you in our SS's.

1st of all who in their right mind would let a forum decide what car to get? Most people will test drive all the cars they are interested in, read reviews (and I not talking speed type reviews) and make a decision based on their likings...

Realistically the Mustang and the Camaro are so close in the 0-60 and 1/4 miles times that to the normal driver / commuter these numbers are meaningless....

I actually am facing kinda same delima, my two choices are the Camero and the Challenger. Was convinced about the Camero for past couple months but am starting to really dig the Challenger now also. I have never had any problems out of any of my Chevy's so leaning that direction but have no experience with dodge quality.

Same. But you know what this is a camaro site we are bias here big time. Go test drive them you will know very quickly which one you like. Some advice do not buy the 2010 mustang the new motor offerings in the 2011 line up is a huge upgrade. Also dont rule out the challenger its a sweet looking ride id rather have it then the stang imo but still not over the camaro. The new mustang ride is kinda girlie looking if you ask me. Only model that i like is the GT500.

I was a Dodge / Jeep guy for years.... Never had any problems whatsoever from any of my Chrysler products...

I was also neck and neck with the Camaro and Challenger... In the end, the Camaro won by a hair because I liked the overall looks of the car better (by a slim margin)...

I did test drive a Mustang and after a few miles I took it back, left, and never considered it again...

So are you now saying that speed is the ONLY factor in picking the winner? If so, stop complaining about bribery because the Mustang is consistantly winning in the 1/4 mile on the magazine tests.

Or you could just act like an adult and smile when your car wins and just accept it when your car loses. No one wins every time. I learned that as a kid. If you are truly happy with YOUR car, why come on here and bash other cars? Just do like I did and tell the guy to go test drive both, compare prices, cost of ownership, etc, and pick the one HE wants.

If I was buying a car right now, it would be the 2011 Mustang GT. Ford did a wonderful job with the car and kept the weight DOWN!! ... I don't think you could go wrong with either a new mustang or a camaro if it meets your pricepoint. I would do what makes you happy, not what makes anyone on any forum happy ..

I think qualilty and performance goes to the Mustang, and Looks goes to the Camaro ..

Are you only going to be driving on race tracks with no turns or pavement issues? If so, then get the Mustang, reviewers STILL say that the live axle bounces around a lot more than the Camaro and that the Camaro is a lot smoother and confidence inspiring. The Camaro may be a bit heavier, but the ride is better.

0-60, they're both so close it's a driver's race. But if you get the 1SS/2SS you'll get more car for your money... Brembo brakes on all 4 wheels (the optional Brembos on the Mustang are only for the front 2), independent rear suspension. You also get 20" SUMMER tires standard, which will give you a lot more road grip, and if you want to upgrade to both the Brembos and summer tires on the Mustang you'll be paying more than you would for a comparably equipped Camaro. The Mustang does offer gearing options which reviewers claim give a Mustang an edge, but remember, those cost more, and you could do the same thing with the Camaro in the aftermarket, also you will lose mileage if you switch out the gears for a performance ratio. I won't talk about the looks since they are subjective.

Cool I know not really a fair comparison but only experience I had with a dodge was one of my ex's had a Neon that had nuthing but problems. Honestly tough decision right now between the two for me. Price actually favors the Challenger in my case at least. Insurance Camero by small margin, gas from what I hear Camero. Space Challenger, and looks are tie. Car forum (camero5) has to go to the Camero! LOL

There is a huge $$$$ difference between the Mustng and Camaro. This is why I chose the Camaro. With the $$$$ difference invested into mods I made sure no stock Camaro or Mustang could beat my Camaro. Check out the number of mods and horsepower gain you can get for the money. If you are primarily interested in power... the Camaro wins hands down. Not to mention that it looks better (IMO)

LOL not really. When I test drove the GT500, I couldn't help but laugh when I asked about driving a very nice black one they had off to the side, he said it wasn't available because it was DOA from the factory. I couldn't help thinking "Found On Road Dead" and I chuckled inside.

I ended up driving this one....

Just didn't like the tiny driving space and the poor rear grip. Felt like there wasn't enough tire back there. It cornered much better than my SS but power out of the turn just wasn't there in comparison.

The Camaro is pretty roomy but the Challenger does have or appear to have more backseat room...

I was really torn between the 2.... I don't regret my decision one bit to go with the Camaro, and can't fault anyone for going with the Challenger...

Both are sweet rides and leaps and bounds ahead of the Mustang.... Unless you are strictly talking performance, then they are all pretty equal to the normal driver....

Well you could buy a mustang and be disappointed in a few weeks when the next big thing arrives. (boss, Z28, new SRT8) Or you could get a Camaro and be happy. The car is a better deal. It costs a lot of $$ in options to get the goods you get in the 1SS on a stang. I had looked it up for another thread. All the performance mags tested the 5.0 with the track pack and a 3.73. and even then the SS just barely edges it out in the 1/4 mile. They are a lot closer in performance than the mags would have you believe, but the Camaro wins in style. It's just so much cooler.
