Using launch control won't give any bigger chance of snapping an axle compared to just revving up and dumping the clutch without launch control!

When competitive mode is on it would actually put LESS stress on the drive train since it is cutting back on the power sent to the wheels until it senses traction has been achieved. Without it, full power is send to the axle and that would put more stress on it than anything. So DON'T believe it when people say that Launch control is MOER dangerous.

Yeah that's wat I thought I've done burn outs a bunch of time and no problem at all I guess it's just luck of the draw if it snaps but the dealer better fix it if it does snap or I def want my money back or they better just give me a new car lol

I'm thinking it they put launch control on the car then it must be acceptable to use it. Seems if it caused any damage they would have to honor the warranty.

Reving to 2500 and dumping the clutch is one thing, going to 4500 and dumping it is another. The pure shock thrown to the drive train is huge. That is a hard twist without things being loaded tight. Output shafts on the trannie, drive shaft bolts and even axle CV joints have snapped doing it. Is it really worth the chance. Dealers have been voiding the warranties on cars if they find rubber built up in the wheel well. Now I think it is wrong for them to do that but alot are and not even contacting GM about it. They make more money fixing your car with a voided warranty.

The auto's do have the benifit of having the drive train tight most the time and if you are holding her to 1000RPM and then launching the L99 there is no shock to the drive train. Just read throw the site about broken stuff some dealers cover it some void your drive train warranty and put you in the GM system as no more warranty. Is it worth it?

Some dealers even voided warrantys for the rear tires having less tread than the fronts, saying it is abuse.

If I went out and tried the launch control for the first time and something broke if the dealer voided my warranty they would be getting a call from my lawyer.

This board is so misinformed on the legality of "voiding" warranties, it is laughable,, I don't care to have this discussion again..

But for those voided warranty fear mongers-- you are wrong. Plain and simple.

OMG, I hit the rev limiter, did I void my warranty?
I swerved to dodge a cat, did I void my warranty?
I passed gas on my cloth seats, did I void my warranty?
I put 315s tires on the rear wheels, did I void my warranty?
I left my interior lights on, and drained my battery, did I void your warranty?
I test drove a Mustang GT 5.0 did I void my warranty?

lol--- seriously though.... it is hilarious.

The problem is that we have all heard the horror stories from other makes when people used the features designed into the car their warranty was voided... Such as the Nissan Whatchamacallit that kept breaking things when using their launch control..

I agree since I have read many accounts from people that have used it and said their times were actually slower using the launch control...
A good driver should not have to use it at all...

totally wrong on above statement. you want to tell them it broke while you were using launch control as that is covered by the warranty. in fact if you are doing a burnout with everything off (launch/traction control) and you break an axel you still need to tell them you were trying launch control. trust me ive snapped the axel once already and it was fixed for free within a day. the new axel seems to be holding up better so i think that some of us just got a bad axel here or there.

obviously, the car, according to gm wants to be launched at 4500 as launch control is what they considered optimum launch with least wheel spin.

A friend of mine with a Vin# in the 8K range broke his output shaft using the launch mode at the track, did not move an inch off the line. Pushed his Onstar button at the track and had it towed to the dealer. Was fixed under warranty no questions asked.

THIS IS TOTAL BS. Passing on hearsay as fact is done so much on this forum. Did you hear that dealers have been tuning down the engine because people were losing steering ability as the front came off the ground with launch control...NOT (this is BS too)

Dealers can't just void the warranty whenever they feel like it.

For someone new here that has not seen all the stories of what dealers have covered and not covered you calling BS is BS itself.
