This is the main reason people have said not to overreact. Never a guarantee, but very glad to see GM was able to step in and resolve it. Happens more often than not, and in past issues I've had, dealing with GM each time was actually a pleasure despite the aggravation from the issues.

Good news, and happy Camaro'ing

I'm glad that everything worked out finally for you dplyttle, but we should all just RTFM and answers as how to escalate will be shown. I had to do this when I had a brand new car's brakes not work correctly. Found the number to escalate the problem and with the help the Lemon Law and of the BBB got a new car for free.

I am not upset that I paid the money for the car. I had it saved up and had planned for the expense. I am dismayed that the car I have planned on getting since the 5th Gen was debuted is in the shop for an undisclosed amount of time to fix an issue within the first 5 months of ownership.

My first car was a 1976 LT 350 and I love the Camaro. However, I find it highly unusual that the dealership can give me no time line whatsoever as to when they expect to take receipt of the ECM. That, more than anything, is what bothers me.

As for the other folks who, to paraphrase, say I should suck it up; I challenge you to hand your car over to the dealership with absolutely no time line for getting your car back and still be happy as two cousins in West Virginia!

I did hand my 6 month old Camaro over to my dealership, ended up having it there for a month. And most the time I called to check on it the info they gave me was "we dunno" Mine at 6 months old and less than 10,000 miles had a new engine put in over 1 little wrist pin. Crap happens!!!! From what I was told since this is a new release car, or however you want to word it, when something major goes wrong with it GM not the dealership requires a lot of info from the car so they can find out why it is having problems, is it a 1 in 10 car problem or is it gonna be a 1 in 10,000 car problem. I cannot tell you the amount of tests that were run on my car BEFORE the mechanic was even allowed to pull parts off. The way they found my paticular problem was after 3 weeks of tests and no solution they were told by GM to pull the engine and tear it down so someone higher up could come in and take a look, well in doing so the mechanic found the problem.

Long story short, Yes I was mad as hell that my brand new car was in the shop and I didn't know how long it was gonna be there or if they could even fix what was wrong....however I gave GM a chance before I went threatening to hire a lawyer.

I guess I'm in for a surprise tomorrow morning!! My car has less than 950km on it. Today it was towed in because it would not start. The dealer feels it needs a new ECM. I was told today they will have an ECM within a day. I am still trying to get over the fact the car wont run............ now I may have to wait to even use it!!!!
