Complete here, but I'm in St. Pete, Florida....about 2 miles from the Trop (Rays stadium) and you want to talk about a pissed off Rays fan when not ONLY did we get beat in a pretty controversial World Series, but I get to see the opposing starting pitcher get keys to my dream car!?!?!

UGH!

I was not posting much during the World Series so I never did get to rant about that, so I'm just catching up because you mentioned it.

Now back on-topic.

Very rarely do I disagree with you Tag, but on this one I gotta say you're wrong. There's absolutely nothing wrong with hyping up the public for the car even if it's not built yet. Just my opinion, but I can't see how more is not better when trying to win the public back.

^But the hype has been here for years now. It's just been crazy. With as much as they are trying to save (money wise), I just don't see it happening for another month. In this case, more advertising = more money...and that's not going to help when GM has all of it's first allocations pretty much already taken as sold orders. Why advertise when everything you have to sell is already sold?

I didn't say it wouldn't happen.

It's hard to think outside of our community. The general public only knows what Michael Bay has told them about the Camaro, that it transforms into a giant mute robot.

Also, to a certain extent, this car has been advertised since Transformers came out, and now that TF2 is coming out and the ads start in the Superbowl, they are kinda getting advertising anyways (There is no way that Bumblebee WON'T be in the trailer). Not to mention the 10,000 of us who are so rabid about this car that we will be driving around and doing PR work for Chevy.
Point being, when it comes down to surviving as a business, the Camaro is not what is gonna turn GM around. It's just an image car. GM needs the Cobalt/ upcoming Cruze and the Volt to be big hits. So I imagine that the majority of their advertising budget will go to them. These cars are the cars that will keep GM in the game long enough so that there can be a 2015 Camaro.

The Superbowl MVP got a cadillac XLR (witch was a GM car) last time didn't he? so why couldn't it be a Camaro this year? Just like they did in the world series, and I've never watched a game of baseball in my life but I saw that red Camaro! Don't know if GM will have to pay to be the company to present a car to the MVP but thats pretty good advertising, wouldn't ya say.

I hate that front fascia on bumble bee in TF2, IMO i think its horrendous, I'd still love to see it in a Superbowl commercial but to those who haven't seen the production version and don't like the look of Bumblebee in TF2, I think it would raise a few upper lips

Of course, it's so stupid to advertise cars like the Cobalt and Malibu which get good fuel economy. It's just stupid if we advertise our trucks, aka our most profitable vehicles. All we care about is the Camaro. It doesn't matter if people's perceptions about GM change or not, we want Camaro advertising!

C'mon people. Wake up. Yes, the Camaro is a fantastic car, but there won't be a Camaro if there's no GM, and there won't be a GM if people don't know about our other products and therefore don't buy them.
I agree completely.

Also, i disagree with the statements made about the Sd auto show. The GM staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They had color samples, info packets and were telling EVERYONE the car can be ordered right now and to hurry to the dealerships because few would actually see the showroom floor due to the high volumn of pre-orders.

they allowed me to sit in the car and play with the seats, knobs, etc.
It was at the end of the show, but well worth waiting for.

BTW, I'm 6'7" tall, 250lbs and this car feels amazing!!!!!

I also sat in the 2010 Mustang and there is absolutely NO comparison.
Two more months and we'll be driving these babies all over the nation!!!

I thought were talking about the camaro advertising or lack there of, but there isnt anything that gets my blood pumping about the cobalt, traverse(no family), a caddy(im 32), or the g8 which by the way is a nicely built and sporty looking/performing car but then theres that whole other 2 doors to deal with. I dont know, im just dissapointed in gm because they havent really built much to interest a large segment of auto buyers and then they wonder why they dont sell any cars.

The first year the GTO came out it was a shame because there was great performance and interior but the outside was just boring. No hood scoops, no dual exhaust, nothing even remotely similar to a goat except the name plate. Who at gm fell asleep at the wheel there? Oh but they did wake up the next year and get those things taken care of. Where did the Buick grand national get lost? GM could get Buicks heart really beating again if they brought that back in some retro cool way. No more turbo v6, which got great fuel mileage and performance. I just dont understand what these(gm) guys are thinking.

But atlast it looks like someones doing something right because the Camaro is fabulous, priced very resonably, looks to be great performance, and has the styling to interest people. Now lets just hope gas prices dont go back up and gm sells a ton of them.

I have a feeling that we will get some advertising sometime soon on the new camaro. If they do need ideas for new commercials they should revisit a classic in my book. Remember the two kids sitting in the bedroom and one is looking out the window and asking the other kid to name the cars. The first one is a station wagon, then a beetle, and then the 96' Camaro Z/28 pulls up the stop sign. The one kid starts naming off the specs for the Z/28 and the other kid tells him he is right but then ask what color. That commercial would be a cool one to revisit with the new camaro.

I'd say its worse than that. Every time someone hears that I'm planning on buying a new Camaro they tell me how it will cost $45k, how much faster the 370z is, how I am going to be paying a gas guzzler tax, and that GM will go under before the car even comes out. I know the Camaro's day will come though, I've seen the looks on people's faces when they see it for the first time.
