Appreciate the respect for the Challenger too. I had a Camaro. It was a great car way better than any Mustang. I got many compliments when I had it; however, I went to a Dodge dealership and simply fell in love with the Challenger. It sounds so menacing. I love it. What can I say I'm a Camaro/Challenger kind of guy. Gotta respect them both. Just not the Mustang. The looks are boring, and there are way too many on the road.

Sure Dodge truck get bad milage. I get 18mpg in my '99 5.3L Silverado while a guy I work with gets 13 in his '08 2500 Ram. But that still doesn't chage the fact that the Ram R/T in that pic looks pretty bad ass.

Thats also due to yours being a 1500 series...way less than 2500, plus is his diesel, probably not. Probably big Hemi. Not a good comparison. Also, I do not like Dodge...just dont like false statements.

Thanks, and I'm starting to feel like a true honrary member around here for sure thanks to guys like HDRS, 67 GTO, and the general overall atmosphere. And quite honestly, once again, it's great to see this place is full of people who simply appreciate all the great American muscle/pony cars (although the Challenger in my opinion is the truest muscle car of the 3 with nary a pony car bone in it's substantial girth).

For those that like American muscle, it's hard to not like the Challenger. My biggest issue is you have to cough up $10k +/- more to own the SRT8 which is closest performance wise to the SS.

However, in my test drive of the RT which is what I could afford I have to say I liked it. No, it wasn't nearly the performance beast of the Camaro. But the thing sounded like it would eat the Camaro. Well the 6-speed did. The auto kind of sounded like a weanie. The pistol grip shifter was like it was molded for my hand. And the ride was actually better than my full-size Titan crew cab truck. Cornering and handling was better than I expected for such a big car. And with the 6-speed and 3.92 gears, acceleration wasn't just horrible either. Plus interior cabin space was good. We had 2 adults stuffed (fairly) comfortably in the backseat. Something that would be impossible in the Camaro, unless I knew a midget that wanted to sit behind me, LOL.

Hands down, the Challenger is the only one that really, really nailed the throwback design. It is the most "authentic" to the original.

Truthfully I wish I had the coin to buy both a Challenger SRT8 and Camaro SS.

It is the most "authentic" to the original. Just a little larger.

i had a guy in a blue hemi super bee (charger in disguise) try and shake me the other day and i was not impressed. of course we werent side by side, he carboned me out when he saw me come up behind him. of course at the next stop he claimed he didnt get on it all the way and that he had an auto. i just laughed as i pulled off knowing he had stepped on it so hard he dented his floorboard and stunk me out with a smelly catalytic carbon cloud.

also having driven both the challenger feels just like it did in the 70's. big square piece of metal swaying sloppily over a chassis that feels too small for the rest of the car to be built on. jmo

You could be the first person to have tested these cars and come up with that one. I've seen just about every mag and TV spot testing the SRT8, Camaro SS and the Mustang GT and the SRT8 is dead last in all, the weight kills the car.

HOWEVER.. I love the looks of the SRT8 and think Dodge did the best retro job of all. I come close to getting one. I drove the GT, SRT8, and SS and I went with the SS but I will tell you if I won the lotto tomorrow I would add a SRT8 in the collection
