I was talking to the dealer that I bought my SS from and what the sales manager was telling me is because I bought my SS from them, they wouldn't be going over MSRP and will give me a better deal on my SS. Currently I am first on their list of the 2 they have been allocated. I'm not 100% sure myself if I will be buying one but I will talk numbers in a few months when they know themselves.

Congrats: phenixdragon

I need to find another dealer, because mine said they don't have a list started and no allocations as of yet since they don't know the prices for the options.

I don't believe ANY dealers have been given ANY allocations for ZL1 yet from GM....

Use caution bud...

CM. I placed a deposit with a dealer on the west coast that guaranteed me MSRP and the number one slot. Since then I found a dealer in Ft. Lauderdale, Maroone Chevrolet, that told me that their policy is to never sell above MSRP. Since I already placed my deposit last April, I told him that I would let him know and kept his card just in case things do not work out like I planned. You might want to call and ask for the store manager and see if he tells you the same thing he told me. Let me know if you do.

Sorry, but I am not at home and that is where his card is. I do not remember his name but I was at his dealership for the Corvette Show that they had in Jan. and that is what he told me when I asked specifically about dealer markups on the ZL1. Good Luck.

Your post makes no sense, how are you getting on a list for a car that has no price and won't even be manufactured for a year from now. According to Chevy reps the dealers won't know shit till q4 of this year when they WILL start taking orders.

Uhh..Ford never said the GT500 was going to be a limited edition either. Sure, a lot of people speculated that would be the case, but they were obviously wrong.

There will be dealer markups on the ZL1 and people will pay just to be one of the first to get one. Funny things is, GM may say the ZL1 will not be a limited edition, but with the economy in the dumps, fuel prices sky-rocketing and the hard time people are having finding well-paying jobs, the actual number produced might actually be less than many believe.

Actually, it was pretty simple. I knew that the demand for this car was going to be very high whenever it was introduced. I also knew that a lot of dealers jack up the price over MSRP on a vehicle with high demand and limited production. I found a dealer last year that told me that he would sell me the car at MSRP whenever it arrived and that he would return my deposit if the car was not what I wanted. I explained that if the car was a twin turbo V6, I would not be interested. Neither one of us knew what kind of car was coming but we both knew that something unique would be arriving someday, most likely the end of 2011. I gave him a deposit and he gave me a receipt and told me that he would most likely get at least one car and that I would be able to use that allocation to order the car that I wanted. It was worthwhile for me to invest a small amount of money to get the first car that came his way. With interest rates averaging less than one percent, I am not losing much money by letting him hold my money. We have kept in touch and I have advised him of every new bit of information that was revealed over the past year.

When I gave him my deposit neither one of us knew that it would be called ZL1, we did not know for sure that it would be S/C and we only guessed that the MSRP would be between $45,000 and $55,000, which is still only a guess. I have no reason to believe that the dealer will not do as he says. For me, it was a small gamble worth taking to get this car without having to wait anymore than necessary or pay more than I am willing to pay.

Already talked with the owner of a dealership here that has supported the Arizona All Gens in the past and he put me on the list with a guarantee that the dealership will not charge anything above MSRP (they did the same thing when the 2010 was coming out). Do not let dealers fool you. You will easily be able to get these cars for MSRP you just need to be smart and shop around. However the bigger markup you are willing to pay the faster you will get the car probably because they will have fewer people in line.

Just because dealers don't know a price or release date does not mean they cannot take an initial allocation waiting list. I am #3 on the list at one of the biggest dealers here in Arizona. When the information on price, ordering, availability, etc is released they will be going down the list and allowing you to place your order based on your position on the list.

The ZL1 will NOT be artificially limited in its production numbers....the company will NOT restrict production (obviously unless 20,000 are ordered, or something unworldly...). It may be low production, in fact it probably will be...based on economic factors....but it won't be limited.
