That's why I just move to the next dealer. Or contact Becky on the forums.

Thanks! I saw a GS vette at the dealer with the new orange, not sure what they call it. It's quite a bit different than AOM, not my cup of tea.

well - there's actually a few reasons why I wish dealers would not add mark-up - but I won't get into that right now.

It is illegal for us to do so -it's called restraint of trade - and you can go to jail for attempting to tell a dealer what he/she can or cannot sell a car or truck for....just ask the fellows from Honda.......

That said - it's also called 'Free market" --

Let me ask you this: Should all 2002 Camaros be worth the same price? Of course not! If there's strong demand, price goes up. If there is no demand, price goes down........

Price gouging is usually used when their is a "state of emergency" (After a hurricane, earthquake, etc..) .Please note that I am using that term very loosely. I know there's another word for it , but it's just not coming to mind right now. Basically, when Hurricane Ivan hit us several years ago, some gas stations decided to raise gas prices from $2.45/gallon to $3.45/gallon, so that profits went from $.10/gallon to $1.10/gallon (this is just an example, I don't know what the price gougers decided to charge). What happens when they decide to do that? Lower and middle class folks can't afford to pay that much, so they're screwed, since gas is a necessity. Places aren't supposed to do things like that with necessities (food, water, gas, etc..). Can the gas station raise the costs to compensate for using generators? Sure, you just can't inflate it TOO much.

Do you need a ZL1 to get to work? No, you can go and buy another car that's not in demand. Is it morally wrong? Yes, and I hope those dealers die off.

Not like you need a Zl1 when you have a Z06 lol. Still the ZL1 does have different wheels, front end, and interior that would cost alot to get.

But don't these dealers do GM a disservice by gouging the price, ultimately affecting 1) how fast ZL1's are sold, affecting GM's initial ROI, and 2) how many ZL1's are sold over time?

Of course, the free market gouged the hell out of 2010 Camaros at first and they still sold like hotcakes. In reality I'd sooner order my ZL1 from an out-of-state dealer than a local gouging one.

Oh and please offer supplier pricing

I'm not going to get in to a debate over whether or not I think X vehicle should go up/down depending on demand..

I just know that at no time in my life will I ever buy anything from a dealer if I feel they're doing that. The most they'll get from me is me intentionally wasting their time and then walking out without actually purchasing anything. I've done it before to several places I've seen doing this.

I was in a Radio Shak one time and over heard the store manager being a tool to a customer. I walked right over to the counter will all the parts I was going to buy, placed them on the counter and proceeded to tell the clerk and the manager what I thought of that behavior, stated I would never buy from them again and I walked out. I now walk an extra 5 city blocks to the other Radio Shak (from work) when I need stuff.

I personally am sick and tired of seeing prices being inflated in many markets just because the greedy want to be even greedier. You're right, I don't need a ZL1 to get to to work. Hell, I don't even need my 2SS to get to work. My law firm pays for most of my monthly transit costs (CTA). I want the SS -- but, I don't want it or any other toy bad enough to allow someone to effectively steal from me because they can. I have more ethics than that.

Again, this isn't just a greedy dealer issue with me. I've told this to people that stood inline for overpriced gaming systems, games, toys, TVs, phones, etc. when they all came out and people knew they could jack the price and still get it.. I'm perfectly content waiting on the price to come down to a less ridiculous level before I buy.

True. But there are alot of cars that are FAST in the 1/4mi. But does that make them collectible?

Congrats on the new ride! It's just like mine. Last year I contemplated waiting for the ZL1 (although I thought it was going to be the Z28 back then) and although it's an awesome machine, I didn't feel like waiting and I wanted to customize mine and make it more personal.

Love the Z06! Atomic Orange looks so sweet on the C6Z.

Not sure he saved much cash considering the mods he is adding on unless he is going to install that blower and cam himself and get them for free.

Nice ride though. Will be tough to choose what one to drive on a Saturday.
