There is more than just the AFM with the L99. It have different pistion netting slightly lower compression ratio i believe and the Cam can actually be phased where as the ls3 cant.

There's a vibration, a bit bit of drone, and a hesitation when you get back on the gas, even with OE exhaust. If you really want to enjoy driving your car, tune that crap out...

If you program the AFM out, can't the stock tune be reflashed before going to the dealer? Therefore they would never know?

Now if I could only have a dealer here like that. This is the only post I've read in the past 2 months that made me envious.

I must question that as it's not the dealer that approves warranty claims,
it's GM.

+1

...but from what our dealers have told us as well, is in most instances GM will honor any work done to the ECU or power train if it was done by one of their techs. If a tune is done by anyone else you can be SOL..

With that said, I have never...EVER heard of GM tuning out AFM. I would be very, very interested in contacting my dealer as well..

I just had a custom tune done on my vert by "The Vette Doctors" here in Long Island. First thing they did was shut off the AFM. I had a Diablosport Predator Tuner that couldn't turn it off so I reset the tuner back to the factory program to re-sell it. I have the Borla S-Type catback and the Airaid CAI which already makes it very loud in the cabin. Removing the AFM greatly reduced that annoying dronning sound at low RPM's and made a much smoother ride overall. I'm still breaking the car in at a mere 400 miles so far and according to them, the car will perform much better as I put on some more mileage. I just need some nicer weather.

I am having engine problems because of the Active Fuel Management. Components in the engine wear out unevenly and now my camshaft disconnects whenever I accelerate from a dead stop, causing my car to stumble or hesitate. AFM is a $10,000 problem for me since
