Thanks for the nice V6 review!
![]() I had a buddy give me a hard time about not getting the V8...then I asked him what he wanted and it was an A4 2.0L turbo. I mean, the flak I get from the two Corvette guys I work with is understandable...but from a dude wanting a smaller engine that can't get much better MPGs?

nice to read some respect for the V6. it's an underrated vehicle.
not sure why they bothered even making the V6 challenger. but that SRT8 one is a whole 'nother story |

I have the 2LT/RS and it has 20x9's in the back, 20x8's in the front and it doesn't like a mushroom. On the LS and 1LT yes the tires are much smaller.

Kudos to the OP for the V6 props! Most people who pick on us have never driven the car and when they do they love it!

I have an SS but I think the V-6 Camaro is one of the best bargains out there. 300+ HP, the great looks, all for just $22,600.
When the ZL1 comes out, it will be great I'm sure but that's not going to make me feel my car is inadequate. Many here weren't around when new cars in the late 70's and much of the 80's had absolutely anemic numbers. Corvettes with just over 200 hp from the factory. Many cars had 150 hp or less and that was the highest output engine you could get. The fact that you can now get 300 hp from a V-6 AND get 29 mpg on the highway is remarkable. V-6's, stand proud! :flag2:

Nice review. Thanks for making us V6ers feel good :-D. I have to say I test drove a v6 challenger and it felt like a talk. My Little Celica felt like it had more getup and go.

![]() And I simply do not get the negative comments about the v6 Camaro. I absolutely love mine, and do not find it underpowered or wimpy at all. Mine is manual, so the experience with the automatic might be quite different. Quote:
When I picked mine up, a buddy who has the Challenger R/T (hemi, v8) went with me on the trip to Detroit. He was very impressed with the power and handling of the v6 Camaro, and kept saying that he did not expect it to be so nimble and quick. YMMV, but I love my v6 Camaro. As for gas mileage, it gets only a few mpg better than my c6 Vette (also a manual) but I can use the lowest grade gas in the Camaro, so I'm still ahead on that. |

I personally really dislike the quietness of the V6 exhaust. But besides that it did accelerate plenty fast and got better MPG over the 3 days I had it. It was fun confusing friends when I rolled up in a RJT Camaro.
The only major gripe I had was the steering wheel, which I'm assuming is the same in the 1SS. The steering wheel felt so rough to my hands I hated holding it. My last car had a standard plastic steering wheel too and it didn't feel so rough, so I don't know why the Camaro's had so much extra texture.

I totally agree about the v6 exhaust. I had mine changed before I even drove home.

+1 on the exhaust.
If there's one thing I'd change about these Camaros at the factory (if I were GM), it's the exhaust. My stock V6 didn't sound bad per se, but it was just too quiet. I haven't heard the SS exhaust in person, but people have said it's also a bit mild. GM really should've made these cars sound a lot meaner, IMO. Nothing a catback can't fix though
