I'm getting a V8 becuase of two main things: the sound, and the fact that you brought up, they might be gone before we know it. I need to own a brand new true American muscle car before they are gone. I need the feel of 8 cylinders and 400+ hp pulling me back in my seat. And I need to be awesome and different from all these Volvos that I'm surrounded by.

For me I want the V8, I need the V8 and I am getting the V8.

What will you regret? I would bet it will be not having a 426HP Camaro.

The original post brings up an interesting point that we never talk about on this board (probably because it's blasphemous) but 426 horses for some is too much. Sounds ridiculous but let me put it this way: I often wonder if the Camaro was releasing with THREE different horsepower choices, how many people would order the "middle ground" model. Like you have your choice of V6-304 hp, V8-380 hp, and V8-426 hp. I think many would opt for the 380 horsepower option, theoretically of course.

If someone comes to my house in anything less than 400hp they have to park on the street....LMAO..

This is good in theory...but I don't think there's any evidence supporting the idea that the middle engine would be any cheaper than the LS3. I mean, the two V8s in the G8 are both more expensive than the SS Camaro, and BOTH of them have less power. Ditto for the V8 Impala. That car is 31k and has a 300hp V8!!....

Assuming it could happen -- I'd agree. I think more people would opt for a less-expensive V8 Camaro.

reason to a get a V6. Money.
When it boils down to it, just because you can afford a bentley you don't just go out and get it. I'm sure everyone can agree the SS has the better look, the mail slot, droppped suspension, big ol gorgeous brembo brakes, & emboridery. However is that worth 7k more? To me-- nope. This will be my 2nd Camaro and my 5th performance car. I like power getting on to the highway and passing other cars when i have the a/c kicking. I have no interest in racing my car which leadsto getting new tires, paying for more expensive replacement parts and I could care less if an SS pulls right beside me. Odds are my custom rims will look better than hers/his. I could careless if a MUstang is revving the engine, cops are up at the next light, DUMMY. lol
It's not worth the gas mileage, the higher insurance, the less miles per gallon, and sure as hell not worth the higher personal property taxes that are charged here based on engine size. You may as well be giving money away. lol I can afford an SS and was #1 at my dealer due to an order early 10/13. However due to a V6 contraint GM advised my dealer to ask if i wanted to get the SS and not have to wait. I declined I'm not rich or poor I'm in between. LT2 for me. I love the styling and some 10 years ago you wouldve been lucky to get 300 horses in a v8.

cars are like women, some are old, some are new, some get turned on easily some need a lot more help, some you just wanna drive into the river, some you can't wait to get inside of, some are expensive to maintain, some are low maintenance, however if you treat them right, you'll have her for the rest of your life.....

I can tell you this. I regret doing that decision every day. The Z28 was a much better car. I rode better and of coarse put me back in my seat. You will be much happier with the V8

But again, with most people it's NOT about the power. It's about it being a v8.

If you told these people that the v6 got 400hp and the v8 got 401, they would STILL get the v8 because the v8 is more "manly".

It's an insecurity thing and it's not worth discussing. Those people that want the v8 want it because getting a v6 is for pussies.

Again, it's not that complicated.
