I doubt that very few people, if any, will purchase a ZL1 because of "status" reasons. I believe that most people who buy a ZL1 will do so because they want a factory high performance Camaro, and are fans of Chevrolet muscle.
To a majority of the public, cars, in general, are not status symbols, but are a form of transportation. If one wants status, one can buy a house with a view in Benedict Canyon.

I think I will feel compelled to take a performance driving class if I get the ZL1, that'll be the only way to really feel comfortable with it's limits. |

Maybe not immediately...but I think it could be pretty dangerous to "teach myself" how to go all-out.... ...is the ZL1 a status-symbol? It depends, I guess...several people have made the comment that it'll still be "just a Camaro" to bystanders, and I have to disagree...the big brakes, wide tires, and huge front air dam should send a clear message that there's "more than meets the eye" (no pun intended) to anybody looking for more than a second... That's how I've noticed non-car people recognize the Z06 for what it is, anyways... ![]() Between enthusiasts, though? I should hope I won't see any ZL1 drivers acting or posting as though they're better than anyone else. :( It's going to be a phenomenal car, well worth the investment, and certainly a purchase to be proud of for years to come. But I just want a stupid-fast Camaro to call my own, and I'm not too concerned with it's status.

I agree though, this ZL1 is one of those purchases where you're proud to have it. But of course that extends to all Camaro's though. Seriously, there aren't that many better looking cars out there. It's actually depressing sitting in traffic seeing mundane vehicles as far as design goes. The wait is very difficult... |

I too want a ZL1 because I am a camaro fan and feel it is an amazing stock car. The tech that will come with the car I am very excited about the most. I want a ZL1, but had decided that when I go to purchase my second vehicle if I cannot afford it then I am getting a 2SS fully loaded. I really want a gen5 camaro and want nothing less than a v8 under the hood since it will be my toy/non-dd.
