Ted.
..and since they are so close, for me it would come down to price and I hear there may be a good deal on a used maggie out there which would leave money left over for a nice set of track wheels and tires to soak up that hard hit off the line..

You would probably need a cam to hit 600 w/ the maggie, just a guess though. But 550 for sure and if the price is that good(birdie told me), it would be hard to justify the price diff for the 50rwhp on a car thats going to be a handful anyway. Now if it was just 1k I would go w/ the Whipple. But big price diff enough I could get nice wheels and tires too, I would have to go w/ the dramaticly better cost in this one particular instance....

I don't think any PD blower will make 600 RWHP with NO Other MODS at 10 psi on an LS3.

12 psi Maybe

But Yes with LT headers, CAI on 93 oct.

Will the canned tune for the Maggie or Whipple be safe to run with literally everything else stock? I'm a long drive away from anyone who can do a dyno tune and my car is bone stock right now. will eventually do LT headers and cai but that would be the most my car ever gets modded. will stick with the stock pully for the Maggie as well.

Maggie would probably be safer / the canned tune because stock pulley is less boost than the whipple. But regardless its always better to get a dynotune since every car varies somewhat.

That is the Way the Kits are Designed for completely otherwise stock cars so you will be fine until your ready to upgrade.

Purchase the supercharger from me complete, then when your Ready to upgrade to headers buy them from me and I will provide a Custom Tune for FREE which will be Much Better than the Canned tune and set for the headers.

Ted.

Thanks for the info guys! I have done a TON of research on this forum and you guys are an incredible source for reliable information. There is no better place on the net. Ted, I am in the saving/researching phase for my supercharger but i will be contacting you when the time is right to pull the trigger. This will be roughly next spring. OP, i hope my questions helped you out too since its your thread.

I sure appreciate all the help here. My head is still reeling a bit, new maggie vs used maggie vs new whipple. It seems that most I have spoken with feel the Whipple is the better quality kit and better suited for my wants but pricing is an issue. Then there is always cam and l/ts as another option......I think I need a beer...

I don't know where you got that Idea, for your goals the Maggie is a better fit.

I disagree that one is better than the other on Quality, I feel they are Both of Premium Equal Quality.

Well after a hard night's sleep and tossing and turning I decided against spending the money on a supercharger at the moment.

I think I have to realize the potential of what I have now and I am going to follow Ted's original advice. I ordered up a set of LT's and a set of Phatt rear arms. I'm hoping that this combination of parts along with Ted's tuning magic will put my car into the low 12s consistantly.

It all just came down to dollars and sense to me. Risk a substancial amount of money on a used supercharger investment of $6,000.00, a new supercharger investment on $7,500.00 - $9,000.00.

I thought about everything else that could be done to the car for that amount of money. So for now I will pursue the N/A route. Maybe a cam package and lightweight wheels.

Thank you Ted for your input...

Lots of cams out there that will compliment a p/d blower and still provide a nice bump in power on a naturally aspirated rig. If you know you'll eventually want a blower, choose your cam wisely so you don't have to back track when it's blower time.

Good deals tend to appear when you're not under the gun to buy. With your blower project on the back burner, you have plenty to time to be selective and cherry pick. Time is on your side. Keep your eyes open.....you might find a deal too good to pass up.

I have the Whipple and on Cali gas(91) and drag slick the car was able to do 11.65@121MPH, 60' 1.74. I've only been drag racing twice so I'm still learning how to slip the clutch and all. I hope to get the car in the low 11's some day. A few people at the track said on a good weather day I might be able to get there.
