Go drive a manual V6.... its totally different. I've heard that for a long time, got to drive one tonight, it feels like a totally different car. It might not be faster, but it sure feels faster.... having the posi rear is a plus too

So from what I'm hearing in this thread, autos are one leggers?

Manuals are for the people who like to drive their cars, not just be along for the ride. Your a passenger in the drivers seat

Drove both before buying and the SS M6 is way more fun to drive everyday even in traffic. Sooo glad I got the SS w/M6!

every car magazine that tested the v6 camaro will tell you that when the 3.6 is mated to a manual it really come alive. I just dont get the point of auto especially some peoples that will get an auto just to drive it in manual mode all the time. If you dont know how to drive a manual or if you are in the middle of manhattan 24/7 than I would recommend the auto but if none of those apply than get the manual. It will reward you alot more than an auto.

The majority of the cars on the V6 fast list are autos. OTOH, I never had the chance to learn stick, so I don't really know what I'm missing out on. The auto w/out sport mode would definitely be A LOT less fun.

my test car was an auto. the manual feels stronger off the line. more fun to drive IMHO

As long as you like driving a manual you should get one. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MINE - and I drive in the city too. I have never regretted getting a manual.

yeah, thats what I thought. I pulled out onto a major road and got on it, I was amazed how much it pushed you back in the seat.... I thought to myself "The auto sure didn't do this!" (even in sport or paddleshift mode). Only thing I didn't like was reverse..... I hate it being next to first, nothing like accidentally backing up in traffic

I drove an automatic and a manual. The manual is way more responsive. Plus a manual gives you more of the sports car feel.

Hello everyone, I'm new here.

I am going to place an order on a Camaro soon and one of the big decisions I have to make is whether or not to get manual or automatic.

I am really leaning towards a manual but I don't have much experience driving a manual transmission so I am worried that I would ruin the car. :/

I do plan on practicing as much as possible before my order comes in though. Would it still be worthwhile to get the manual even though there is a chance I could still mess up the clutch and transmission due to my lack of experience?

I have the auto, and would switch to manual, however, there seem to have been a lot of posters with clutch problems with the V6 manual. That would be a concern, especially with the cost of a new clutch on these.
