To add insult to injury around here, we've had a couple chevy dealers close, and the largest one did not participate in the pre-order program, so they are selling theirs to the highest bidder (likely) when they come in. And we are not really "rural", but not metropolitan either. See lots of Challengers and Mustangs, but don't expect to see many Camaros around the area until later in the summer or fall.

There is a dealer by me (anonymous) that took over 50 deposits on Camaro preorders. They are now on financial hold with GM. GM probaly won't ship the cars to that dealer until they are in good financial standing. So, if the dealer goes under, imagine if you're one of the 50 who now has no more deposit and the cars get diverted to other dealers willing to take them (which we will gladly).

Hopefully no one here is part of that 50. I believe that GM will do "the right thing" if the scenario above comes true.

I'm number 78 I believe at Classic. I was advised it may be fall b4 mine comes in so I'm sticking to them because when I went and look around for a dealer all the ones closer to me didn't have a clue. The guys at Classic in Grapevine TX rock and will get me mine when it comes in. I'd love to have it by July but if I have to wait I'll wait. My birthday is Oct 6th and I sure hope it is here by then if not sooner.

Yep, it's def. not a good year for dealers :( The Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Toyota dealer in my town was in financial toubles and instead of facing their troubles they decided to load up their new inventory and run (81 vehicles). They sold about 1/2 of them in the auctions by the time Toyota financial people got them tracked down by the feds. They be in jail now

JMAN311 i know how hard it is i live in a small town, my dealer wanted M.S.R.P +15,000 for a 2SS/RS so i found a dealer out of town, RPO_Z28 is GM not giving all dealers a V6 car now, not part of the dealer guide so all the small town dealers will have a car.

It's unfortunate enough that the US car makers have a "bad" rap; why they wouldn't do a smart PR move like getting everyone involved and happy is beyond me.

I don't think I've ever seen you fired up before JMAN. I do agree, but looks like GM doesn't. Guess my luck, with a dealer that only has 5 guide cars, is that he's within 20 miles of D.C. He got 2 of them in the March concensus, and claimed they were both above and beyond his original 5 guide cars. Then again there's still 4 build months before September, so the little guys may get caught up real soon, real fast. I hope so anyway!

Let's say the period up until Q3 was October 2008 thru September 2009.

12 months divided by 9 (larger dealer guide) = one unit every 1.3 months.

12 months divided by 3 (smaller dealer guide) = one unit every 4 months.

The short story is if you wanted your car earlier than later, then you could have ordered from a dealer with a larger guide number. Ordering from a smaller dealer makes you wait longer.

Again, if a dealer only stocks 100 new Chevrolets, he's not getting his Camaro's faster than a dealer that stocks and sells 300 new Chevrolets.

That's the dealer's choice and it affects their customers. GM will give cars and trucks to dealers who ask for them. That's what "CONSENSUS" is.
If GM wants to sell the Camaro then they need Camaros on the street! Maybe this give us a better understanding of GM's financial problems!:(

Huh? It makes perfect sense. Dealers will stock and sell what they feel they need to sell the most cars. Dealers that sell the most cars have the most customers. Odds are that if GM wants to get Camaros to the most customers possible, they would use history as a guide and give the dealers with the most past sales the most cars. If you're in a podunk town, chances are you just can't sell that many camaros. Also, what's the point of having Camaros on the street in BFE? Doesn't it make more sense to have Camaros on the street in large metropolitan areas where there's higher concentrations of people and therefore potential customers and money?

I don't so much as look at it as rewarding a dealer's past sales but using history as a guide to figure out where they can get the most future sales. Do you think that GM should give equal amounts of cars to all dealers? For example, Classic in TX has over 100 sold preorders! They NEED the most cars! People who ordered on day one there may be 10+ deep on the waiting list.

None of this is new information. There really is no reason for any debate in this thread. RPO_Z28 was kind enough to share his predictions with us. Debating the fairness of GM's common sense (at least at it's basics) allocation system has not only been beaten to death but also belongs elsewhere.

Sure is really easy for the guys from larger cities to look down on us and tell us to just deal with it. And I hate to break it to ya but most of the threads on this forum contain info that has been beaten to death. Last time I looked this thread was about production guide numbers which involves dealers getting cars, sooooo sorry I strayed way off topic and jacked the thread. I'll just shut up and stay out here in the middle of BFE until my dealer gets their allocation.

I did originally ordered from a SRE (large volume) type dealer before the new GM decided to screw me over. Now I am at a SDC (small volume) type dealer and the GM there says that he gets an allocation in April which is fine with me. What convinced me to roll over to him was the fact that this dealership sells cars. They have already sold two ZR1's and have two in the showroom.

They may be a small volume dealership but they service 4-5 small cities. Small dealerships appeal to alot of people because of the customer service and that you are treated like a person, not a dollar sign.
