i have 25% all the way around. a black 96 grand prix... looks great sets off the exterior of your car. i got my done for 250 with a deal.... proffessionally.. you can expect about $50 per windodw... and yes it is illegal in most states.. but as long as you obey the street laws you should be fine... otherwords dont give the police other reasons to pull you over....

I've been browsing the forum now for quite sometime, but this will be my first post. This is a great site and I spend hours here. Lots of good information. I was wondering if anyone is going to be putting the "eyebrow" tint on the front window. I've had it on my older cars, but not sure if that is still the in thing or not.. Also does anyone have concerns about the rear window defroster raised lines having an effect on the tint and leaving air pockets?

By the way, I ordered my Camaro on 11-01-08. 2SS/RS, Manual, IOM exterior, IOM leather interior with IOM trim package, black rally stripes, painted engine cover, hurst shifter. I was number 3 at my dealer out of 4. Their 1st one just got pulled for production but no word on mine yet and dealer claims he doesn't know when it will be made but they were told they would have all 4 before June, so I patiently wait..

When I lived in SoCal I had limo tinting on my back windows.. legal there, but when I moved to Washington I had to take it off... my max has 30% on it, and I will probably get that on the camaro as well..

Oh I found a cool page with laws on it...

In CA all the rear windows can be as dark as you want. The front two can only be the UV shield which is more than 75% I believe more like 95%

I plan to tint mine, I don't think any of the windows come tinted on the Camaro factory... they all look clear to me. So I have do the rear to 30-35% and the front to 60-65%... I don't like them too dark, I have a hard time seeing at night already so when the windows are too dark it that much harder for me. Those specs above is where I had my mustang and it was perfect.

EDIT:
Thanks for the link avol2
CA
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

Yes in Texas the state law is 25% but when you get your car inspected you only have to have 20% its kind of weird if you ask me. I also plan on going 25% all the way around on my car. Hopefully i will be able to get the dealership to install the window for me. We got crap window tinters around here.

If you really think about it the law is there for the cops safety. I had 11% on my camaro for a while and even in day light you couldnt see in it from 5 feet away. So if the cops cant see in it then they cant see if they have a gun pointed at them or not.

Back window is not going to be easy, rear deck must get removed. I looked closely at the NY auto show!

Will you tint over or around the third brake light???

have 20 on my civic all the way around probably stick with that. Legal limit for nc is 35 but I have never had a prob. Friend does my inspections for me just tells me to roll them down, and also friends with a cop he said as long as u can see through them at least a little most cops around here wont give a ticket and with 20 there is still some see thru ability. Anything lower than that is pushing it for my tastes.

How dark is 50%?

I have never tinted my windows, but with this car, things are different.

How dark are the windows on the model they have on the Chevy website? (rough idea)
