TINTED WINDOWS

Is there any word on if they are going to be offering a tinted windows option?

Usually dealers will offer that.

Probably more than taking it to a tint shop would cost.

i've never seen a dealer offer window tinting. . . here in PA it's illegal. . . thus will not pass inspection, thus the dealer can not do it.

The dealer will probably charge 2x as much as taking it to a tinting shop.

Take it to a good tint shop and it will only be around $150 - $175 and most tint shops will give you a lifetime warranty.

My truck has a factory tint option. I think thats what was meant. THe rear and two sides are tinted on the extended cab.

Dealer will run you to much...go to a tint shop that is specific to that job and you will get a better rate. Two side windows, rear and visor will run you about 130-140 here in Florida.

Trucks usually come with tinted windows, but not cars. I guess they figure trucks are parked outdoors more often than cars.

Wow, really? That seems pretty harsh. Must take the fun out of a lot peoples lives. Does that mean that no one could even run a tint shop there.

The law here (as is most places) is pretty spotty at best. It differs by county as well as city. One minute they're illegal, the next they're not depending where your driving.

As far as dealers go, most probably contract it out to a local tint shop like mine. Even though it may pushing the limit of the law, I'm going to get them pretty dark. The law here sais you can have the back an side rears as dark as you want. The front sides (the ones that actually roll down) are a different story all together. These are the ones that get you in trouble if they are too dark. Not sure how I'm going to handle this one yet.

Yeah PA is pretty harsh. We do have shops that do it however. Many give you a warranty that covers if you are pulled over. In PA, the majority of the cops give you 24-48hrs to remove it. You then have to take your car to the barracks to show them. You can then take it back to the tint shop and many will reinstall it free of charge.

It is true that alot of shops will not pass inspection on cars with tinted windows. However, most of the small inspection stations dont care. An easy way around it is when you take your car for inspection, keep the windows down and wait for the car. Most places wont give you crap about the back windows. Just the sides.
