[QUOTE=JerseyMonte;3727089]Most shows state the classes that will be judged,
around here in S Jersey many shows are adding a modern muscle
class to thier shows I won 2 with my 2010 SS/RS and 1 with my 2012
Mustang GT I entered on my way home from the dealer with temp tags still in the rear window. I have a 70 Monte and have been to many shows with it
winning numerous awards, after the first year it became less meaningful
the trophys sit in the trunk or garage and are forgoten, now I go to enjoy the chance to talk and hang with other car nuts.
I have judged plenty of show and some owners are totaly insane when it comes to trophys, arguments, fights, etc. One guy even gave me a bunch of $#1+ because I didn't pick his car he said the one I picked was a piece of $#it We call them trophy hounds.

I dont usually find Mustangs visually appealing but that's one sexy beast. Nice ride.

Who ever heard of taking a new car to a classic car show anyway ? What did you expect to win a prize at some local show ? Sounds like it was held at a carnival or some kind of HomeDays event . Ive had a lot of Antique-Special interest cars and never wasted time sitting around some lameass car show. Driving it around is my idea of showing it off.
Id be embarassed to sit around a show in a New car, you got what you deserved and can quit Boo-Hooing about it.

It's nice to get acknowlegement that my car's sweet, but honestly, kudo's to the guys out there building their own show car. I had a chopped 49 Chevy Fleetline fastback sitting in my field, then in my shop for 8 years before I finally determined that to restore this car is beyond my ability. I sold it to a guy who IS making it into a show car.
When I go to a car show, $15.00 gets me a good parking place where no one's going to open their door into mine, lots of people come around ogling my Camaro because they had one or knew someone who had one back in the day. If I get a prize for it, yay me! If not, I only ask that the awards go to folks who actually deserve them.

At the Super Chevy show last month, we (5th gen Camaro) started in the Camaro 1990 and newer class , but the judges scratched that out and gave us our own 2010+ category, which was really nice of them to do. There was 8-10 of us there, so we made a good showing.

Perhaps next time you will look to see if they have a modern car category?

Considering there was no modern class you should have expected no award. You are ranting for nothing, next time check and make sure it has a modern class.

If there was no modern class and I was a judge, I would not award any new car a trophy.

Lots of shows in my area (kansas) cars need to be 25+ years old. IMO I can go to a new dealership anytime to see new cars... I love all cars and don't care to see anything "new" at a car cruise or show.

I go to show mostly to see the rides. If my car fits in the show meaning there's a modern class that's cool. Now I have a very good friend with a rotisery rebuild 69 Camaro. This car is one year newer than my 2010. He bout the car on line. Is his car more reputable ? Know also that his car is brand new everything and is absolutely beautiful. Cars are cars go to the shows to enjoy them all. It dose piss me of when a club holds a show knowing that when I pay to get in there never going to juge my car. Bro. You have all the right to bitch. Be lucky you have some cool friends to vent too.

If you pay entry fee, you should be considered a contender. If not, why even allow the entry?

Not very cool...

Again just my opinion.
I agree 100%, as nice as the new camaros are, if its up against a nice 67 camaro, well the classic should win everytime. recently on this forum one of the guys had his new camaro on the show "My ride rules". He didn't win and many forum members were telling him he should have won when in reality no he shouldn't. The winner was a woman that had a SWEET 57 Chevy pickup, that truck deserved to win and did, I was surprised at all the people saying he got screwed.

From the sounds of it you would be embarassed with any car at a lameass car show. All the ones I have ever been to were for a charity , fallen heros fund, vetrans, breast cancer, and childrens hospital fund.. so ya I guess they are lame your right I'll stop going! they are about alot more then just showing your lameass car. If that would embarassed you I am sorry for ya.

well theres alot more to carshows then just showing your car, while I haven't taken my camaro to any shows I have takem trucks that I've owned to truck shows. One of the things I enjoy about shows is checking out all the other rides and talking about mods etc... with the other people.
maybe the reason you think all shows are "lameass" is because your personality sucks and no one wants to talk to you at shows. judging from your post I'd say its a safe bet.

Ya you can go to the dealer and look at the new cars true, But at the shows you can see what people are doing with the new cars and checkout different things you may like for yours. Not going to get that at a dealer. last Show I was at I asked to here different exhaust corsa magnaflow etc. so I could make a dicsion on which one I like.Plus they are not going to try and sell you one at the car show and follow you around looking for a sale. You can see and hear that at this forum also but I rather see/hear it in person. mustangs II's are older the 25 yrs but I would not want to see one. alot of those old cars at powered by new ls, etc engines so they are not really that old dose just the look and body panel make the car a classic?
