But I do agree that ESPN's MNF program needed a new theme song anyway. I mean, Hank's has been around since the late 80's. It's time for an upgrade.I know what the First Amendment protects. I was not claiming that Hank's First Amendment rights were violated. But I agree, I suppose I was a bit vague with my reference. My point is this. ESPN is owned by ABC. I imagine the decision to pull Hank's song from MNF came from the top brass at ABC, and not so much from the folks who run ESPN or MNF. ABC's news wing has substantial influence on the opinions of the population. So, if you run a news agency that only exists because the government does not have the power to suppress your opinions, then how hypocritical is it to end a contract with someone who is merely expressing their opinion? I always thought a news agency's purpose was to stand up for everyone's right to speak their minds and have open dialogue. But it's pretty clear that the majority of today's news agencies are only here to push their agenda and promote their favorite political figure. Now, I'm in no way saying that Hank's comments were okay. While it's clear to any sane American that he was not saying that Obama is Hitler, he could have made his point just as easily without bringing Hitler into it. But on the flip side, I think it's atrocious reporting that the headlines immediately claimed that Hank was comparing Obama to Hitler. In the context of his statements, the comparison he was making was the absurdity of the golf pairing. He was not equating anyone to anyone else. But if he were, what if he was comparing Boehner to Hitler and Obama to Netanyahu?

He really was not a big enough star to have an effect on espn. I'm sorry but after what the south did to the dixie chicks no fake azz redneck is gonna get a pass from me. It's not an easy life for men in the south, not for the type of man he is claiming to be. It doesnt help that fox news helps to feed there ignorance. I talk to thousands of real rednecks every year and we all feel the same way. The morons in charge have us convinced were different but were not. Were fu#%!$& American, were not republican or democrat.
