I installed my LS9 cam with 800 miles and am currently at 11,000+ miles with completly stock valvetrain and no issues. Great cheap mod for someone who can turn a wrench. If someone would have to pay for the install it wouldn't be worth it since for the labor cost you might as well shell out the extra $$$ for aftermarket cam, springs, retainers, and pushrods for the extra gain over the LS9 cam. I had made a thread about the install about a year ago. Same idiot talking trash now was talking trash a year ago.

I know there is no lope, but will the car be any louder? I have long tubes, no cats and 1 chambers! I am hoping it will sound just a louder at idle, just without the lope.

Thanks ADM, after comparing your car with the cam and down pipes to a few cars with headers and stock mufflers, the cam does have some sound! It sounds meaner thats for sure, no lope but you can tell it made the tone of the car allot tuffer. Cool!

I have a brand new LS9 cam that I was going to install with the Whipple. After researching more, that's why I didn't install it.

there is more to my car than power, i could have gotten a wilder cam, but i wanted it to sound sick, and drive good. again i am not going to the track. also i wouldn't know until you drop the hammer, your right. but with my car you don't need to drop the hammer to know its got balls. i got cam for 20% i wanted little more power, 80% i wanted my car to sound like this. and i must say its money well spent happy modding ![]() |

probably a dumb newb question, but would we see gains in our LS3 with an LS7 cam? I mean I know people have done the LS9 cam, but it seems like an LS7 cam would be better for N/A applications (one would think)
![]() I am all about factory drive-ability and sleek HP bumps when no one suspects....but everyone says it's only cost efficient when you do the work yourself? I dont trust my mechanic skills to install a cam at all! Thanks- David

The LS7 cam has a smaller base circle than the LS3 or LS9 so longer push rods would be required. The LS7 valve lift of .593 is based on the LS7 using 1.8 ratio rockers where the LS3 uses 1.7 ratio rockers. An LS7 cam with 1.7 rockers would yield .560 lift at the valve. It would be nice to be able to run LS7 1.8 ratio rockers on an LS3 BUT the LS3 uses offset intake rockers whereas the LS7 does not. Better to just use the LS9 cam as a mild bolt in change to a LS3.
