Is this the case with only Boston OEM speakers or aftermarket speakers too? If I understand correctly the rattles are coming from the speaker and the sheet metal that makes up the rear deck? Thanks Guys!

i think its just BA. note that while the screws definitely helped, the problem isnt fully solved on my end. maybe i did something wrong? i guess ill have to try the dynamat route. shame GM isnt offering a more professional fix for this (from what i can understand)

The screw trick worked great. I've got 2 10s in the trunk 2. Put 6 screws evenly around the speaker. I have dynamat in there already but night and day difference with a few screws. Unbelievable stopped about 90% of rattle just a little from the deck panel against the back glass now. But the stereo has to be really cranked up for that.

I added a layer of weather stripping to the back of the trunk lid and it took care of that.

My 2010 had a rattle in the rear speakers if my stereo went past 16 on the volume. Turns out the single bolt securing the speaker to the rear deck was slightly loose.

I dynamatted the whole rear deck top and bottom when I replaced the 6x 9s. I used a small strip of weather stripping on the trunk lid at the back this is the only place it touched metal. I also dynamatted the whole trunk and the back of the license plate frame. I really don't like rattling. No rattling here.

Same hear....I dynamatted everything in my truck including completely around my rear speakers and have never heard even a hint of a rattle.

So the weather stripping combined with the screw trick and my already installed dynamat from replacing the stereo completely stopped ALL of my rattles. I'm running the stock boston speakers with aftermarket amp and 2 10s in the trunk. The screws and weatherstripping I think did more than my dynamat did.

Did you use all silicone rubber weatherstipping? I used a foam kind at first and it froze once wet. Didn't think of what happens in cold climate at first. Actually froze the trunk shut and ripped itself off. I used some rubber stuff this time, just hope the ice thing doesn't happen again. Makes me worried that the adhesive could pull paint when opening the trunk if frozen.

The red arrows mark the ends of the rubber. Don't need to go to the outer edge to stop the rattle. Sorry tough to see the grey weatherstripping on the edge against the black paint. Look close and you can still see it. It goes along the outer edge of the trunk lid. Pretty much right on top of the weld.

Your idea looks very good, something was needed to pull these pieces together so there was no room for the rattling to take place.

Post pics if you can just to give a better idea!

Glad I don't have that! Super annoying!
