No way in hell am I going to let the dealer drill holes in my bumper. I have never had a front plate on any of my cars and I live in Texas. I have had only one warning in all those years and I have been pulled over alot in the past. So hell no to the front plate. If you get a ticket then all you have to do is stick the plate on temporarly and take a picture then show the court and it will be dismissed then take it back off.

We are going to try to attempt in 2012 to go thru our Senate to have this law changed. Someone has to try.

When I see cars out there with broken windshields, spare tires, and mufflers hanging off, BUT have their inspection stickers, it angers me. I am doing nothing to harm anyone's safety, so therefore, on the various verts and coupes we have, NO TAG for us on the front EVER. The state police that pulls me for that needs to be out giving tickets to the people who are a danger to us and the community. I think its a real asshole thing to do to someone driving a nice car, and I think there is jealousy involved.

Go give tickets to the numerous people who are texting, drinking, speeding and frickn driving in the left hand lane on a cell phone!!! And leave me and my awesome car(s) alone!!!
Couldn't agree more man, I'm in VA as well and have no plans to be running a front plate when I get my baby. I don't know what all goes into getting the laws changed and all that, but if there's anything I can do to help out with trying to get the changes made just let me know! It's a pointless law and there's no reason for it to be in place (though most of VA's laws seem to be that way).

I even told the manager at the out of state dealer I ordered from "WHY DOES IT SAY FRONT CA PLATE BRACKET ON MY ORDER???" and he assured me it has to be included but he would have his arm cutoff if he mounted it. Now I saved the email just in case as proof and will "DRILL" this fact into the head of the local dealership accepting my courtesy delivery.

Keep those tires from getting too cold, send them south for the winter.
Yea Florida is pretty cool... don't you guys have no sales tax either? I know Florida motorcycle law doesn't require a helmet (although I would ALWAYS wear a helmet when riding my bike even if it wasn't the law)

No front plate for my ZL1. I don't run front plates on my Vettes & do not plan to run one on my ZL1 unless I get written up several times which has not happened on the Vettes, ever. Why mess up a beautiful front end?

Carry your front plate and a broken bracket with you tucked away in the car somewhere. If you get pulled over, pop it out and say that you're on the way to get it fixed. And never park on the street. Problem solved. Let someone else spend time to get the law changed. You'll have more time to drive! Besides, its more fun to find a loop hole or a work-around. That way you're stickn' it to the man...

It is a law in California but have driven my 2000GTP for 12 years with no front plate and never been stopped or ticketed for it when stopped for other infractions. For you guys that need to have one for inspection there is a way to do it that nobody would know it was not screwed to the bumper. I did this for show cars that needed to be street legal.

It is as simple as four Velcro squares or dots. To make it look screwed to the bumper just buy some aluminum screen door screw posts. They have a pretty big slotted screw head. It is very soft aluminum so just snip the threaded part off, file or sand the back flat and glue over the top 2 holes in the plate. Put the first 2 pressure sensitive Velcro fuzzy pieces on the back side of the plate. Putthe other 2 near the bottom of the plate directly below the uppers. Stick the matching velcro pieces onto the ones on the plate and carefully press the assembly against the bumper in the place of your choosing.

Nobody will know it is not screwed on and it comes off easily. Better to have to peel off 4 Velcro stick ons then drill holes. It is a pretty clean install and the plate stays on very well.

Florida does have a sales tax but no state income tax. But it does have no front plate requirements or helmet requirements for motorcycles. You just have to weave your way around some drivers that really should not have a license.

Everyone gets mad at the slow driving people who shouldn't be driving, but I get excited when I get behind one, let's me lets me open it up briefly. The only bad time is when you get behind somebody slow in a no passing zone.
