Yes.. I think I remember that it WAS indeed derived from the 302R program! Good Point. I guess it's all about the "total package"... trans, suspension, and that ever ELUSIVE and most important thing.... APPEAL !! ZL1 Wins as the sales numbers are showing!

Turns out that they are now using a version of the 4.6 mod motor now. http://www.roushyates.com/EngineProg...Prototype.aspx
If I was in your shoes I would be saying the samething. I know what you are saying. And I know the rules. Yes I don't have solid proof. This thread is not about the development of the 5.0. If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but I know I saw Coyote 5.0

Now on an enthusiast site those numbers should be more even but it seems they are not.

You hit the nail on the head. The 2013 GT500 is probably going to be a tick faster than the ZL1 0-60 & 1/4 mile. Whereas, the ZL1 will be faster on a road course.

It all depends on what you want to hang your hat on.

For GM to get such a heavy car to perform so well is good on them. I would like to get my hands on a ZL1 just to compare the difference between it and the SS.

Yes, the ZL1 put the hurtin on the Boss LS something fierce. Should they have used the GT500 instead? For sure. Would the ZL1 still beat the 11 PP GT500? I think so.
yep I have that car and I highly think the ZL1 will beat it convincingly around a track and very close race in a 1/4 mile
