No this dyno is done in 4th gear. You always want to dyno closest to 1:1 which for our 6 spd is 4th gear. I know the wiggly line you are talking about but for me, it look like 4th gear always come out a little wiggly up top but always come out clean on 3rd. I have no idea what is the deal with those big blocky lines that some of you auto guys get on the dyno but sometimes it has to do with the rpm pickup.

Sooo lets take a little stroll through history shall we?? Please correct me if I'm wrong but I want to get this straight...

1) When you was on the E85 tune you dynoed somewhere around 280 something horsepower...(can't remember the tq). That was even with the stock intake wasn't it? lol

2) More recently...on the gas tune, and with the insulator and the ported IM you dyno'd at 274rwhp and 259rwtq. But during that run you thought the AFR might have been off and maybe that left some power on the table.

3) Now you dyno again with this new tune, and you are back up into the 280s, and 270 tq on gas. This sounds fantastic to me.

So do you equate the better dyno numbers this time to the an improved AFR ratio...or did the KR tune tweaks really net you some extra power??

Honestly, I feel like it is fantastic that you are back up to pretty near E85 power levels on a gas tune...I don't see this as a bad result at all.

Feel free to comment on any of that as I'd love to know your thoughts and if you think the car pulls like it did on E85. Maybe it doesn't quite have the TQ like before?? Still impressive though.

My other thought is something you touched on...and that is making sure we can run this and still keep the engine safe from detonation. Do you know if that is possible, or is this all just guessing at this point?

Appreciate this very much....this is super exciting stuff and if it works like I'm sure you are hoping it could...the true power of DI engines may be revealed.
When we was first doing the e85 we made 284hp and 244ft lb of tq with stock intake, long tube header, no cats, and exhaust. Where the e85 shine mostly is up at top. Although we can't really compare my last e85 dyno vs last night since there are alot of other mods that contributed to last night's dyno, the difference is HUGE! Just the off peak torque is in the difference of up to 26 ft lb of tq! Now, if I was to add the e85 back with my current situation, we would see some killer numbers.

You are right, last dyno before last night I was able to make 274hp and 259tq with high flow's stg 3 ported IM, and mace's initial 18mm insulator. I was however running rich, right around 11's, and also had some possible turbulence issue because mace's initial release was matched to the factory gasket causing extra space in the path once everything was installed. Last night's dyno consist of my AFR leaned out at 12.8, 25mm mace insulator, and a new porting work of the IM that me and my Co worker did together(my co worker used to build race engines for 20 years) Over top of the 274hp and 259tq from the last dyno we was able to manage 14-15 more ft lb of tq and around 12hp!! I do believe the most of the extra power came from reworking the IM and thanks to my co worker lending me his expertise. Like vince said, every car like different AFR. I don't believe correcting the AFR is worth that much. Maybe around 5 max. I still had some turbulence causing ledge caused by factory cylinder head.

Check out the difference, but this time I put the correction factor in so the comparison would be close from two dyno.

I bootcamp'd my MacBook pro and the tune worked flawlessly.

I know the V8 manual 4th is the 1:1, but I thought the V6 manual 1:1 was 5th?

Fourth is 1:1 gear for the v6

Hmmm, C5 needs to update the wiki then. They have 1:1 listed for 5th in the V6 manual.

TJ, I will take all of the blame for ya but just don't get us together in one place. I might have to wear my vest and bring my 9mm

1:1 for 6 spd is 4th, I think 1:1 for 7 spd would be 5th and 3rd gear for 5spd.

I gotta run....but from my experience....the manual v6 respond better when dynoed in 4th gear, autos respond better in 3rd.

x2

tried to dyno mine in 4th and it read way low (less than 215hp). ran a 2nd time but in 3rd gear and pulled 260hp with a nice smooth line

That's the way it seems for auto. I have the manual, but if I dyno in 3rd my lines will come out as smooth as butter but, the hp will usually be higher and torque would be a little lower. For manual 4th gear seem to be perfect and for auto 3rd gear seem to be good.
