And to answer OP, i generally try to get to a station soon after i hit my 1/4 mark. Just out of the fear that i might forget im low on gas and get into a sticky situation

I've maintained a ritual of filling up at the one quarter mark or just below with every car I've ever had. Never ran out of gas, never lost a fuel pump.

Usually filler up below 1/2...two reasons, its not a daily driver...always went with the theory of the fuller the tank, the less moisture can accumulate...and 2ndly, if it does stay put til a weekend...I like to start off with a full tank...hate the "I gotta get gas first" thing...

I like to keep my tank low to decrease weight. Just in case I encounter someone who wants to play!!! Seriously tho, I refill at the 1/4 mark. I only fill up on long road trips tho!

I do a lot of city driving to and from work so i know where all the gas stations are at. I usually fill up when my DIC says i got around 20-40 miles left.

I let mine go until i have about 30 miles left in the tank about 2 gallons left, only because i check to see how many miles i got out of a full tank i average 275 to 300 miles per full tank.

I do a quarter tank mostly but i know if i push it to E i still have about 3 gallons left. so its not that bad.
