What is the best phone in terms of sound quality?

iPhone is awesome. I couldn't imagine it sounding any better. But then again it is an iPhone

Ok, I have a question...I have a new 2012 1LT w/ no USB port. I have tried to connect with pandora through iphone 4 bluetooth. When I go to the aux input and press menu I get nothing. Do I need to have the USB port to do this or not? And help would be great!!
Thanks!
Dave

PS: Hope Im not thread jacking!

In order to stream Bluetooth audio, you need the Connectivity package that adds the USB port and streaming Bluetooth audio. It can be added, see posts here on the forum as to how to do this, or you can go to your dealer and have him add the Connectivity package.

Bluetooth does not compress anything. As a matter of fact, Bluetooth audio transmissions are rated at 20Hz to 20,000Hz, for full range music reproduction. It is the audio circuitry in the Bluetooth module that determines what the actual audio performance is.

The compression is done in the source that you are transmitting over the Bluetooth network. Most internet based music providers like Pandora have their audio compressed so that they won't hog internet bandwidth and will play without pausing all the time to buffer the data. This is what causes the loss in fidelity.

DOes anyone else have an issue of the gm music connect dropping your pandora if it takes longer than 30 seconds to load a song? It is a pain because you have to manually reconnect them.. If you have a solution.. Please help

I've had it happen once, but It was when I was using both pandora and google navigation on my phone at the same time. Navigation muted pandora and it didn't restore fast enough so the connection dropped.

Keeping the whole "best phone in terms of sound quality" out of the picture for a minute, you are likely best off with an iPhone with the Kenwood stereo.

Although you can stream from Android or iPhone with this stereo, you are going to have more flexibility directly connecting the iPhone to the stereo. You will likely want to get their KCA-IP202 cable. With this cable you will be able to charge the phone and have access to multiple music apps, including Pandora. Once the phone is connected directly to the stereo thru the USB port, it will bypass the DAC (digital to analog) converter in the phone and use the internal DAC on the Kenwood stereo (which is much better).

Hope this helps!

I have an iphone and there is no bluetooth option in pandora settings. :(

I have to use the console aux in (headphone) cable and the usb to charge, wires everywhere.. its a nightmare.

Couple that with the fact that pandora takes literally 10 minutes to load before music starts playing.. and I never use it.

in my 4th gen I had a $150 deck from best buy that had integrated thumbs up/down and station lists. I would just plug the phone into the usb port and it would start working without doing a thing.

why is it a $150 deck from best buy offers something a 2012 car in the high $30k range doesnt?

for now I have my free xm, but when that expires I don't know what I'm going to do..

The Bluetooth option is with your Iphone settings, not in Pandora. Bluetooth from the IPhone plays whatever your "Now Playing" is.

Do you not subscribe to Pandora or are you in non-3G zone? That may explain the slow loading.

Love my Pandora/Bluetooth/IPhone.

I am a subscriber, I listen pretty much ALL THE TIME at work and at home. I'm in a 3G zone most all the time too. I can stream high quality it just takes a really long time to start playing the first time.

the phone is paired with the car for phonecalls and works wonderfully, I haven't tried the aux in settings yet. Might tool around with it this weekend. It'd be nice to plug it into the charger and leave it in the console. Can you control it via the radio or is it audio only?
