GPS Mount on Radio Face

I read someone used the suction cup for the Garmin to attach it to the face of the radio face..

Sounded like a good idea. I have HUD so I rarely look at the radio anyway...

Not such a good idea...

Apparently the combination of summer heat, double sided tape used to attach the face plate to the radio, and the weight of the GPS is not a good combination.

I went out to my car this morning and my GPS was on the floorboard with the radio faceplate still stuck to the suction cup..

Just an FYI for those who are doing it or thinking about doing it.

My face plate stuck right back on, but I need to put together a new mounting scheme....

Double Sided Tape radio face plate... THANKS GM!

thanks.....althought I started to try it, mine wouldn't stick as my suction cup was too big, and due to the curve of the faceplate, wouldn't hold, so its on the windshield.

Just get something like this...I have one on our Expedition and it works just fine while still keeping the GPS out of your direct line of sight (on windshield or on top of dash).

I may go with the Proclips mount that mounts on the side of the console. I bet I can shalack that surface perfectly smooth for a suction cup or resign bond the nuvi mount to the clip.... I like the way it makes hiding wires a lot easier and does not block a vent.. Its HAWT in Houston.. lol
