Manual all the way. Would not own a Camaro with an auto. For a DD that isn't a sports car (mine is a DD though), I would consider a car with an auto, but DD or not, I would not get a Camaro with an auto.

Came close to getting an automatic...at the time had no idea of AFM, LS3, or L99...lol,,,Went with manual mainly just to have an "old school" Hurst shifter....

Manual only...shifting gears in the city is an art, not a chore! (for me)

I love driving a manual but got the Auto for traffic reasons. Traffic in this stupid city is terrible.
oh AND I wasn't real clear about the L99 - LS3 thing so, in hindsight, I would have gotten the manual if I had known.

One factor, don't hear it discussed much, is new the autos are @1k more...just sayin'...might have thought about auto more, if it wasn't for the extra bucks...

I'm all for newer lightning fast dual-clutch auto-manuals w/ rev matching, nice paddles, etc. Or even the newer quick-shifting 7-speed transmissions with locking torque converters. But the auto in the C5 is an old-school slushbox with buttons instead of paddles, and if you aren't a drag racer, you get the manual plain and simple. It's a great manual with ratchet-like precision. Once I got used to the distance between the brake and gas pedals, and how sluggish the engine blips are, I can heel-toe downshift better than any typical slushbox, and if you don't know what I'm talking about or don't care, buy an auto lol.

I got the camaro with the automatic because I'm a truck driver and after shifting gears for a couple weeks I like to get in my car just cruise and no shifting .

Everyone has their preferences on how they like their transmission auto or stick, both are good for numerous events, occasions or just crusin. The question has been asked a million times, yes the stick is best bang for buck as skip shift is cheap to bypass, where as us autos get shafted ne way back to the op auto I'm new school but can afford to take the l99 out of the motor
