Went to a dealer in NY, he said he could try and find a car that I want if it was already built. But to order one to my specs he could not even place an order till November. This car is going to be rare all the way into 2010. In a way kinda glad because a car like this is not something you see on the road all the time. I lost count with how many mustangs I've seen on the road.

If you ordered today from a dealer with allotments left would your order go straight to 2000?

Not necessarily.......I ordered last Friday from a dealer with 1 allotment left. He told me you are usually at 1100 for about 3 to 4 weeks then usually to 3000 after that. That was his average wait time for the ones he has ordered so far. About 8 to 12 weeks total for delivery. He guaranteed mine by August at the latest. It also depends on how big the dealer is........mine is the number 1 in Corvette sales for his region so he is moving slightly quicker than others.

Someone asked when the 3rd Quarter started, and no one answered her. So here goes:
A quarter is three months, and so that means the 3rd quarter starts after six of the little months have gone by. So the third quarter starts in July..... unless GM means production quarters.....hmmmm..... in that case, since production began in March, the third quarter would start in the middle of October and end in December, and the fourth quarter would start in.... wait a minute, January starts the first quarter of 2010.... or does it? Damn...When DOES the third quarter start? |

I thought it meant May through August since the " official unveiling" was in May.

RPO Z28 and camaroscotty seem like damn good joes and I see nothing wrong in their thought process ( I am in sales too) they are certainly communicating openly with their customers and at the same time, selling cars. The problem was the pre-order concept that GM decided to market to the public, and force on the dealers. GM played it so many ways and have really just messed it up. I wonder if the decision to do this pre-order scheme was a last minute gamble or if it was planned well in advance? I think some bean counter got scared of losing his job and came up with it and at the time was a hero, I bet he/she doesn't come out of their office very often these days.

I was in the same situation......I ordered mine locally and ended up being number 18 for 8 allocations. I went to visit some family in the DC area and found a dealer that had 1 spot left so I took it and am now number 8 of 8 with 5 of his already in transit. I only ordered last Friday so we will see in 3 weeks if he was telling the truth. I asked a guy taking delivery while I was ordering when he ordered and he told me about 10 weeks ago. So it seems my dealer knows what he is talking about.
