3Q Production Guide Number Question

I live in an "tweener" area south of Pittsburgh. The 'burg is bigger than most cities, but is no where near big city status. My area is definitely a "made in America" place. Domestics out number foreigns probable almost 3:1 and that's just cars. Probably 10:1 for trucks (and yea we drive our trucks out here).

We have lots of Chevy dealers here. There are probably 10 within a 20 mile radius of my house.

Anyway to my point... I went with a dealer that I've done business with for a long time. But that didn't keep me from checking around with about 4 of the other dealers in the area. Since I put my order in (pulled last week ) I've gotten call backs from 2 of the other 4 that I contacted. Both say that they have several allocation (by this I assume guide number) spots left. One even said he had 8 allocated through 3Q, and only has 2 pre-sold orders. He said March consensus gave him 2 (had one in February) and he needs someone to fill the other spot.

I asked the dealer I went with, how many pre-sold orders he had (5 was his guide number) he only has 2.

Can this be true? Or are they fulll of sh_t or just idiots. But I really do believe my dealer. He has maintained all along that I was his only order from October through February when he got another order.

And if this is true here and maybe in other areas, you have to wonder whether GM's goal of getting per-solds out by 3Q won't be an underestimate. Especially if they didn't get as many pre-sold orders as they expected.

I here they had 14,000 pre-sold orders. Does anyone know what the total guide number through 3Q was?

Good to hear your order was pulled, 1camaro4me. I believe the total production guide number was 20k, so there are going to be some unused orders, but dealers are now free to use those open slots for stock car orders.
There has already been talk, by CamaroScotty for one, of the guide number being conservative, and all pre-orders being delivered well before the end of Q3. They can probably produce 30k cars by then if things run smoothly. So, we all get our cars sooner than later!
