PHX today getting out of work (at 4:45pm) read 112, mostly it stays around 106-110 around here in the summer.

The 136 is just the heat of the sun on the car, not the actual temp. Here around northeast Jersey it was 100 today, but my car read 106. Tomorrow should be interesting... Gotta love these heatwaves.

100 degrees. I rarely drive my car in the sun during the summer

The temp sensor is located on one of the bumpers most likely.

If you're stuck in traffic, or just turned the car on, its going to read higher than it really is.

When you get going ~20 MPH or so, then you will see the temp adjust to what it is.

My Civic functioned that way, and i see the Camaro behave exactly the same way, temp reading wise.

lol, we know. It was more like high 90's/low 100's yesterday. I'm talking about what the car said, not the actual temperature.

My car is black on black, as well, and I had it parked in the sun from 7am to a little after 4pm.

I just thought it was weird because when I started the car, it read 103F, which was pretty accurate. Then, it started to slowly go up like crazy after 20 minutes of driving.

For this morning's drive, the temp was in the high 80's. Let's see what it is this afternoon, after an afternoon of sun.

You do realize, the sensor was sitting out in the sun, so of course when you start the car, its going to be irrationally high until air starts being pulled through the grill in which the temp gauge can start to adjust, right?

That's not what happened, though. I started the car and the sensor was accurate (103F). Then, after 20 minutes, it went up to 136F.

Also, my point was about the accuracy of the temperature sensor. It's not really accurate if it's not telling me the actual temperature, is it?

Furthermore, the reason I asked the question was to see if this was 'normal' for when people leave their cars in the sun on hot days, or if this was an unusual occurrence.

Highest I've seen was 128. I live in Tampa, Florida. I'm sure it would read hotter as I move inland. Here we get a constant Gulf breeze but still, too hot.

Thank you. Do you know what the 'actual' temperature was, that day?
