I have yet to get pulled over...my day is going to come sooner or later. You have to learn to NEVER be the last car in line...especially out of state. In NJ, it's hard to even keep up with traffic going 10 over during rush hour. I don't know about other states, but ALWAYS go to court. They will generally knock it down and let you off with less points, which it sounds like you need considering your record. Don't let the cop trip you into not going...if he pulls the "he was really going 18 over" that can easily be an instant dismissal, as that basically discredits the entire ticket as being false. You don't have to prove you were innocent, just that you are not 100% guilty.

Also, keeping up with traffic is NOT a valid defense. The profiling approach may work, however.

the rule of thumb, that is printed in the NJ driving booklet says that go with the flow of traffic. So idk...I think it could be valid

Nope, you missed one detail. From the NJ Handbook:

Quote:
A motorist should always try to keep up with the normal flow of traffic, while not exceeding the posted speed limit. Some collisions are caused by driving too slowly and backing up traffic.

Have you ever tried setting the speed warning in the DIC so you know when you get to a certain speed? These cars are so smooth sometimes you don't realize how fast you're really going, 80 can feel like 60.

Not funny and a bad idea !
I got a ticket last year in my SS for 91 MPH in a 65 in N.Y. State on I-684.
I had it reduced to a seat-belt violation by pleading "not guilty with an explanation" with no atty.
It went from 6 points to 0 points. Paid the same fine but I'm not complaining.
It's definately worth your time and you have nothing to lose going to court IMO.
Remember in most traffic courts it's all about the money.

The one time I showed up as a witness, the accused never got a chance to say a word. They offered a plea deal and he took it, before he even had to explain a thing. Which pissed me off, because I wanted to see him get slapped after rear ending my Blazer.

Say exactly what you said in your opening thread and I bet it will be pleaded down.
Also, be polite, get a haircut, wear a suit, cover up any stupid tatoos, DON'T wear a baseball cap, etc.
Give it a try. You may not save any money but you may save your license.
Just my opinion but it's from experience.

Get a good lawyer from the local township. Pay the good lawyer to get the ticket reduced to some other offense (Failure to keep right, etc...) 1 point or maybe 2, Pay the fine and consider buying a Subaru. (just kidding) Consider it a down payment on the rest of your driving career. Good Luck

The best advice is from Carl 2SS. Get a local lawyer. The lawyer will be able to do things u can't including if needed conducting discovery on the radar records. If the speed is reduced to 4 mph over the limit, no points in PA.

I have decided that maybe this was a sign/warning for my future in driving. I paid the ticket and have decided to seriously not speed on the highway anymore. I have way too many points and my insurance gets the report on that I was issued th ticket n matter what happens. So it doesnt matter if I get it dropped or not, they still get it.

I got a ticket 2 years ago in PA and I got it dropped to 5 over from being 21 over....The insurance still has the 21 mph over ticket, and it never changed. So my isurance will see it no matter what happens. It comes off my license in 5 years anyway, I can wait. No more speeding.
