This may seem obvious but I'm just trying to help. Since you blew the doors off a Mustang, it can't be a HP issue and the tires aren't any wider or stickier than on my old T/A.
+1 to this, I think you are holding the brake too hard, and make sure you are in first gear. I think some people think that the car should just burn the tires by flooring, it, but to me a burnout means you hold the brake (just enough) and keep the car stationary while flooring the throttle until the rpm's come up, then back off enough to keep the tires spinning.

dude, you can burn out on a car with half as much horsepower as the v8 camaro, so hp has nothing to do with it.

I hope you did lots of burnouts on those tires that came up missing

I have no doubt I could use the "left" L99 pedal for a burnout... Maybe I'll do it once for grins, but that doesn't really float my boat.

During my break in period, while keeping it under 4000 rpm (except for the time I hit the left button instead of right LOL), I just figured traction off and ALL "right" foot it would break loose...

Instead it hooked up nicely and took off. I'm quite sure I could dial in a pretty consistent number bracket racing.

No compaints here.

My A6 Corvette would not do a burn out when I first bought it, now it will smoke the tires just flooring it at 25 mph. Took about 5K to break in.

3,000 Miles on my 1 SS Auto. Very Very hard to do a burn out. But it goes like _ _ _ _. You don't win races burning the tires. My 69 will just sit there and smoke the tires and turn 14's at the strip. The 2010 squats and goes.

I've also tried these 2 while taking the traction control off and also putting it in competitive mode.
The rear end just lowers and sticks to the ground. Great for take off because there is no wheel spin, but you can't play around.
I'm sure the standard would have no problem.

Also the wife and I were on our way to dinner last night and a mustang GT wanted to race. Ran away from the mustang :-)

Everywhere I stop in Houston people are commenting on how awesome it looks. Most have not seen another one driving around town, including myself.

Has anyone else with an automatic experienced this with the tire spinning?
You said you tried it by knocking off the traction control, as well as attempting it in competitive mode. But I wonder if you'd have better luck if you turned everything off? If I'm not mistaken, when you press the button once you turn off the Traction Control...push it twice quickly, you put it in Competitive Mode...push the button down and hold it for (I don't know how many seconds, 'cause I don't have my Camaro yet) you turn everything off (Traction Control and Stability Control).

ok, I've found out this morning. push the button once for traction control off, push a second time for stability control / competitive mode, and holding the button again for a few secondary turns off both. I will try again this evening in my warehouse parking lot. I also think I have been holding the brake too hard. Seems a little childish, but I want to see it break loose.

One thing not mentioned is these cars have Torque Management built in to reduce the power and save the life of the drivetrain. I know the GTO's had this, even the M6 cars. Get the TM tuned out and watch these cars fly.

So to spin the tires you must power brake the car, or buy cheaper tires they told me. The P-Zero's will not spin. They told me sticks where doing burn outs but they are dropping the clutch from 2000RPM or greater to do it.

I am at 1500 miles and changed the oil and on a newly paved smooth road I have broken it loose and it chiped even hitting second. But you are not lose for very long.

Cheryl's final comment to me was, would I like to sit there and spin againts a Mustang or hook up and kick its ass? Camaro designed to kick its ass.
I would be disappoint too if I couldn't spin the tires at will.. :( But in reality your tires will last a lot longer than mine in my manual.. And you would win more drag races if that's what you are using it for.

We all like to do burnouts, but this car is a drag racer's dream. Sticky, sticky, sticky.

For smokey burnouts - someone already mentioned those two little words: Line Lock

I can afford tires but I don't like too.

Am I the only one who would rather save the tires? I have an extra set in the garage that came off of the car and If I can't find a buyer it might be fun to just burn them iff of the car but I just can't bring myself to use them up.

I don't burn out myself. Did enough of that in the 80's.

And yea I don't like vibrations and wierd stuff with my tires. And burning out in unbroken-in tires is even worse. They need heat and cooling cycles to cook the layers of the radial.
