I hope this sounds more constructive and sensible than anything else. I really think that you should take your car for a nice drive and enjoy it. The best and most sensible option is to wait 3 years so you can trade it in on your terms and get the one you want.

I am in the same boat with wanting the SS but in the opposite boat financially. I had a nice 17 dollar an hour job when I bought mine. I bought the cheapest stock model V6 camaro for 20 grand even. After 3 weeks I got into a huge fight with my lazy boss and I got fired for telling her that she is lazy and that she should stop threatening me every day about losing my job. Anyway I now work as security (what I did before college) and I have to tell you that I am so glad I made the decision to buy the v6 worth 20 grand instead of the 40k SS since I would need to return it back to the dealer/bank and ruin my credit because 11 dollar an hour job with 3 degrees worth of student loans really does not warrant driving an SS.

Instead every morning when I go to my BS job I get into my car and enjoy the ride there and yes I look forward to the day that I will have the money to trade her in and get the ZL1 and rip the road open more so than my v6.

When I bought my first Camaro it was a 2011 2SS/RS Convertible with 10k miles that was the negotiated price with no trade in or anything. It came out to 35k with tax, title, and license fees.
No way I'd pay 40k for a V6.
My factory ordered 2013 2SS/RS Convertible with GFX body kit and all the other options came to 47.5k for everything. Hahaha

I had always planned to just keep mine until the 6th gens came out, because it seemed to be the best option. So I'm still probably going to do that, but I was mainly looking for others opinions, perhaps some who had been in the same situation.
You asked the question , if you don't like the answer to freaking bad , live with it .
But again according to your first reply , the guy that you call BS is actually right , go ahead and read your own words .

Hmm... even if you kept the $17/h job, I still don't think getting an SS is a good idea. $17/h assuming 40/h a week nets just over 30k a year......
I don't know how much income other ppl spend on their cars, but an SS and its running cost would be 2 years of after tax income based on 30k/ yr
Most ppl I know stick with 3 mo~ 6 mo income for their cars. I'm curious how much did the camaro cost for everyone based on their income?

Still agree - mainly because of all of the other expenses that I have. The point being is 17 dollars an hour was base pay and I was working 60 hours a week minimum so I was getting about 3.5k a month while being exhausted and all but still. Unless I am making 45,00 + a year I will not be coming even close to an SS (at least the 2013 model) and I think 50,000+ is where I want to be before I get a ZL1. I still think for the point of this discussion it is logical that the car is kept for some time instead of spending the money feeding the dealers. Smart and financially responsible decisions is what I advocate :-)

Supercharge it. Others with lt verts have been very happy with the results.

And it'll be cheaper.

I say keep it and save up for a 6th gen.

Do a cold air intake and a ported throttle body to give the car more response down low and a better midrange pull. These two alone should net you a decent 15+ HP at peak, and even more in the midrange rpms. Also maybe exhaust if you want to change the sound. It will give that heavy convertible a little more oomph to get down the road lol.

Its actually pretty amazing what they can get out of the LFX with a tune and high flow cats are coming from SOLO soon, but I know you said you want to keep the warranty.

A year old , you will never get what you think its worth. Wait at least two years and keep the mileage down.
Do not do any mods , you will never be satisfied and thats money you'll never get back.

So you are willing to blow off 6k on a supercharger, but you won't put that 6k on top of the 32k the dealer gives you and buy yourself a nice 2ss/rs.

Some really good deals:

3-6 months sounds about right, I wouldn't go above 6 months income either.

I'm only asking for 34-35K which I don't think is outrageous, but after yesterday I wonder if just putting a turbo or supercharger might be the better option. I would love to move up to an SS so I wouldn't have to worry about the whole messing with warranty thing, or my car just dying after doing all that work, but I'm not going to accept that large of a loss on a basically new vehicle. Any suggestions folks?
How many miles on it?

Everyone is so anticipating the 6th Gen, wonder if GM can meet that expectation after the 5th gen.

I went with the 5th as it was a semi-retro to the 1st, but not a complete retro rip-off like the Mustang or Challenger. It is the Camaro they would have built in 68 with the technology of today.

Bottom line: Wanted an old school V8 I grew up admiring, and heck, even the V6 is nothing to complain about: 323HP out of a V6, wow.

New Mustang will most likely be out before the Camaro, and that may tell where the market is going. I don't like the looks of the new Ford Fusion, but that is my problem. However, may be foretelling of where they are going with the new car models.

Based on the rumors everyone is going the right direction, C7 corvette hit 2013, mustang 2014 1 year after covette as usual, so camaro will be 2015.
Mustang ppl complain about the suspension the most and camaro has the extra weight and interior problem.
They will be switching to the smaller platform from the ATS, so weight problem will be gone for sure.

$38k for a V6 when you wanted an SS was a bad move. I know your V6 is a vert, but I paid $37k for my 2010 2SS/RS new in 2010. Your only chance at an SS now is to accept the big loss on the V6. If you are not willing to do to it or financially can't then you are better off modding what you have. There's always going to be a big difference between what the dealer is willing to give for your V6 compared to what you paid. One of my relatives found this when that traded a 2011 2LT/RS for a 2010 2SS/RS they lost somewhere around $5k-$6k on the V6. My advice to anyone is do it right the first time, and if it comes between a new LT V6 or used SS V8 and you even just kind of would like the V8, buy the damn SS V8.
