Nobody wants a war and this thread is not the place for it. The OP asked a question and has the right to get as many answers regarding his question as he can.
I've seen to many good threads get hijacked by politics and other off topic issues and when people persist, the thread will get closed by the mods and that is unfair to the OP. I'm just asking that we stay on topic so that don't happen.

I do have one question of the people with automatics. When you are cruising at say 60-65, the AFM should have the car running on 4 cylinders. At that speed, is there any lag at all noticed if you floor it before all 8 kick in? Or is it instant and unnoticeable?

you notice it a little but its getting better as the miles rack up

Tap shift wont hold the gears when the car is new, it will allow you to go to about 3k rpm in 1st and 2nd and then it shifts automatically, somewhere around 300 miles the computer decided its cool and it will hold till redline now

I wish I could have my cake and eat it too. I've got plenty of time driving both stick shifts and autos, and I really haven't decided what tranny I want when I order my '11 convertible. Around town "just going places", I prefer an auto. When it's a beautiful day and the road is laid open in front of me, the manual is definitely funner. But then again, on race day, I prefer the auto, because there's less left to my admittedly meager launch skills. And, any muscle car I own WILL find it's way to the track.

As far as being called a girl, well, that's fine, we can all have fun with it, but I think we all know that the autos of today are a far cry from the powerslides and turbo 350's of yesteryear.

Cool, that must have been a programmed break in feature?

Every single person I know (no exceptions) who has driven a manual to the point where they got comfortable with it now prefers it.

Also, you're free to think that I need my head examined, but I'm free to think that only girls drive automatic muscle cars
My daily driver is a stick and I have owned several in the past. There used to be a reason to get a manual for better performance and slightly better mpg but those days are almost over.

Most modern auto trans in high performance cars are quicker than their manual counterparts now anyway and mpg is down to a difference of 1-2mpg.

Only reason I could see to get a manual is greater driver involvment. However even that is a hard argument with sport autos and paddle shifters.

So we've had like 5 worth while posts.

Like the first post says, I dont really care what everybodies opinions and views are between the two, I want to know who drives an auto, and regrets it, or likes it, and for what reasons!

Lets be mature about this, can we?

Paddle shifts are SSweet. When you want to shift manual you have it at a click. When you get into stop and go traffic ..click and you have an automatic!! It's nice.

Have to admit the sound of saying 426 hp would be nice....but most people cant not believe 400 hp!

I have 1600 miles on it now, and I do not regret getting auto... in fact I would order it now if I had to choose!!

Oh ya..I get 24 mpg on hiway 75mph w/ a/c on...that includes the stomp on it to get that guy off my a ss every 10 miles or so!

untill I drove it I was one of those "stick shift only guys"
This is not just your ordinary Auto transmission it is the newest technology with this tapshift and with 400 HP the Automatic is going to get you speed and performance and still keep the fun in the car, imo. I am curious to try out the tapshift. Thanks for the input.

Yeah sorry about that, lets get this back on topic. I drive an Auto and love it. I don't have to worry about being jerked around or having to change gears in stop and go traffic. I love that there is at least an option to go into manual if I want to get a manual feel.

It seems that no matter what we driving - auto or manual we are enjoying our new cars

It seems that no matter what format our transmissions take ( auto or manual), we are all enjoying having and driving our new Camaro's. My 1976 silver Camaro was my first new car, it was a manual shift. But I have to tell "ya" all, that this 2010 silver with auto is a lot more fun to drive.
