Do you regret getting the auto trans?
For owners and drivers only:
If you could go back and change your SS auto to a manual, would you? If yes, please explain why. I'm tossing the idea between the auto and manual, and I think I want the auto, for the remote start, ease, and speed of it. No flamer posts, no ordered only post, no post unless you drive or have driven a lot an automatic transmission 5th gen Camaro, preferably V8 I dont really care what everybodies opinions and views are between the two, I want to know who has ordered an auto, and regrets it, or likes it, and for what reasons!

This has been the most heated conversation on the forum, imo. People here have said "Oh it's a muscle car and it must have manual" give me a break. With that said, I am glad I stuck with Automatic. It is smooth, fast, and I love it. I have yet to play with the tapshift but I heard that gives a pretty close feeling to manual if I want to try it. The Auto is your smoothest ride, and with 400HP you are still going to tear up the road. Best Decision I made. Also as a big music buff, would find it hard to shift and sort through my ipod interface at the same time. With Auto, it makes it easier, imo.

This is what you call poor planning. I am very glad I bought a manual. That is why when people come on here and ask everyone elses opinion, I tell them they need to make up their own mind.

That is cool, everyone should make up their own mind. But when people here tell others "Oh it's a muscle car, it must have manual to be a muscle car, and there is no other way" Is VERY condescending and rude.

The biggest thing to remember about what other people say is:
Opinions are like A**holes, everybody has one! The only opinion that should count is the one YOU have about the decision you made.

auto for me all the way because im lazy. 1 year of driving a deliever truck with the worst shifting/clutch known to man has changed me for LIFE!
Plus, an engine with VVT!? With a new cam and a tune the l99 is going to be better then ls3 with the same comparable mods. Just my opinion.

![]() I didn't see him say anything bad man lol. It's a preference. And assumptions about the persons decision are just dangerous. I live in a town with the most retired military do you want to go around telling them they are girls? (As an example). ![]() The Turbo-Hydramatic line of transmissions is Chevrolet and Camaro heritage. |

And yes, if the retired military person is driving a muscle car with an auto, I would jokingly refer to them as less than masculine for that. I like to joke around with people. |
