Im just curious with all the talk about the trannys, and shifting issues, i seem to be one of the lucky ones, and i always let her warm up completely(150 degrease)before i ever put it in gear. You guys that are having issues, are your cars warmed up?

There is such a thing as Factory Defects/Issues, so what you do now is go to your Dealer and get it fixed for free, shit happens no car is perfect. Going batshit insane crazy because of an issue like this is well kinda stupid especially since you posted about it first before going to get it fixed. My uncles brand new Ferrari 458 decided not to start when it had 78 miles on it and he didn't even throw a fit as big as you did.

I didn't wait for the transmission to warm up to 150 it was probably 100 degrees. Called the dealer told him what happened and he said if the car sits for a week the computer could have prevented the shift to work . Don't know if its a valid excuse ?

You shouldn't need to let the trans warm up to actually drive it (to shift fast without grinding--yes). Our transmissions are tight and more difficult to shift when very cold but I've never been locked out of gear even when leaving the car outside all day at work in the teens.

Computer not letting manual transmission shift? That's a new one to me too (pun intended)

Anyhow, mine was garaged since second week December. Pulled it out under the car cover yesterday (65F and no rain!!!) and burned half a tank hard. Shifted quickly a lot and the transmission is pure nirvana. I honestly think this is the best manual transmission I ever drove in and this is my first american stick shift car (drove sporty manual cars my entire driving life).

Man the wait was tough....

Drove it again today , with out any problems this car is making a liar out of me! Also the wineing sound when in neutral is less noticeable . I'm still going to wait to take it to the dealer unless I get locked out of the gears again. Hate to bring it to the dealer so some tech can abuse my car. I also babied the transmission scince I got it no hard launches and no fanning the clutch.

How many miles do you have on your car?

Living in Virginia with colder weather, I find my initial shift to 2nd gear is sluggish. No problems after warming up.

I bought my car without test driving it.
So as the salesman filled out the paperwork, I went to the car and went through the gears and I couldn't find reverse.
So, before i left the dealer, I asked the salesman how to engage reverse. He told very easy, just move it to the far right and up.
I got home, parked the car in the garage, and the next day I tried what he had said and it didn't work :-O
Then a thought came to my mind: maybe reserve could only be engaged when the engine is running and sure enough that was it. I have owned, a Honda, a BMW, a Mercedes, a Nissan, a VW and none of them required a running engine to engage reverse except for this Chevy

The reverse lock-out solenoid is electrically retracted. Without power or in it's depowered state, it prevents shifting into reverse.
