I've been driving sticks since I learned how to drive. One day I was going to help a friend out and drive his monte carlo to a repair shop. Of course it was an automatic. I was stopped at a red light and once it turned green I puched it and thinking I was in a stick shift I slamed my left foot thinking it was time to shift but instead slamed on the brakes. The car nosed dived and skidded to a stop!! Luckely nobody was behind me. Scared to living cr*p out of me for a second. I think allot of people has that happen to them.

I have not done that since I usually drive a manual. However, I had to have work done on my car and was given a loaner that was an automatic. Took me about 10 minutes before I stopped trying to shift the thing.

It happens to the best of us. I got my SS last may and bought it on a saturday. Well monday rolls around and I'm driving to work to park in our parking ramp. Parking ramps aren't normally a big deal but ours has offices on the first floor so you have to go up a steep (30 to 35 degrees) ramp. And the designers in all their wisdom but the card reader for the gate right in the middle of the ramp. (see where this is going)

So I pull up all cool and figure I can leave it in first and coast up to the reader and idle thru the gate. WRONGGGGG! Of course the gate hesitates so I have to stop on this steep grade with cars lined up behind me. Welp I figure I'll let off the brake and get off the clutch and give it some gas......I shot up that ramp liked I was shot out of a cannon. I am honestly surprised I didn't launch out the back side of the building. Tires squealing I made the turn at the top of the ramp and parked. One of the guys I work with looked at me in the office and asked me "how's the clutch DORK"

I have 60K miles now and still kill it from time to time. The 2010 clutch is tricky. When the weather is bad, I drive my Colorado. It's got an automatic and I still find myself going for the clutch and shifter sometimes.

Sure you haven't just inhaled too many fumes from Boise or Duraflake?

When they first arived at the dealers I test drove a 2010 I thought the clutch was imposible to use. Have since bought a 2012 best clutch I have ever used.

I did that once a couple months ago. Remembering you have a stick takes a few times. Got it down for the most part again considering it has been 15 years driving an auto. My 2010 was a L99 thinking my wife may drive the car but she only drove it once. So with the 13 I decided to go back to my roots.

I haven't stalled or missed a gear in a long time but after first buying my Camaro I parked it in front of the main entrance of the Veterans Administration where I work and forgot to leave my car in gear. There were about 10 Veterans wearing Vietnam hats waiting for the shuttle bus watching my car slowly follow me through the lot until one said "Hey man, you might want to try parking your car again!"

One of the Vets even gave me a salute for the darndest thing he saw that day.

To make matters worse for me I did the exact same thing the next afternoon at Oak Park Hospital but I caught it right away and was glad nobody saw that.

Wait until the hill assist causes you to stall.
