Wow...thats crazy lucky for you to have the hookups lol relatives at the plant where it is supposed to be made, etc...I wish I had someone to consult that was directly related with both this project and the Mustang project ( as I am also a major fan of this car)

actually my couzin is on a commitee which is involved in gm.... but my stepbrother works for ford and is on the svt and product development team hes been working there ... wow ...a very long time... since the svt focus lol...and svt lightning... he got me one about 4 years ago he has some clay shots full size of what its going to look like i cant give out details... but there arent any major differences... i have one mule shot no bra... the big news is a possibility of the new twin turbo v 6 going into it... the new v8 has more then 300 hp and there is more factory installed performance options. the new rear end looks MUCH better however

dont worry guys... its not anywhere near our camaro for performance or style

one more thing...all new rear suspension setup on the mustang much like the shelby

Sorry to go off topic but MY2011 is supposed to have a 5.0 GDI V8 with around 400hp..probably won't be a GT tho...back to topic, I wish Camero or Fbod would drop an inconspicous clue or atleast a PM so I can spill the beans without naming names...hahaha

Well, it would surely be nice if most of this info were true! Don't think the LS3 will be base at all, but could easily see it go into the Camaro. I'm thinking Gen V motor, though. Maybe an LS3 for the first year run. But, Gen V will be in it eventually.

Yes, it would bring the price up on those w/ SC's only! It wouldn't bring the price up on all Camaros... Would a SC alone attract more cops? Being a "cop", I'll tell you no. What brings the attention to me is the person who drives it like a maniac...whether it be a Hyundai, or Inifiniti, or other. And, GM has already said something to the affect of "we're not afraid of stepping on the toes of the Corvette...or invading on the Corvette's territory."...something like that. It can EASILY happen.

Indy bash 08. Go to that thread as there will be more info posted really soon about hotels, etc.

I wish they would too...but we'll just have to wait a little longer. 7 months sounds about right to me like Cap'n said!!!

It certainly makes a LOT of sense dropping the LS3 in to the Camaro as a base V8. Why? Well, taking the UK Monaro (LS1, then 2) at similar monies it would make no sense to try and market it below such a vehicle. The current VXR8 (something like your G8 I think, via Pontiac) is going LS3 - and that's a 4-door saloon.

IF Chevy wants to go global - and they're certainly talking about re-releasing the marque here with your models and not the Korean rubbish we have now - it has to know the markets and play them correctly.

I'm pretty sure we'll only get a V8 here - no V6.

While it would make a lot of sense to put the LS3 into the base Camaro, isn't that all we were speculating right before fbodfather said, "forget everything you think about the engines"?

It really makes me think that it won't be either the LS3 or the L76, but rather a more efficient Gen V engine that we don't know anything about. This would really fall in line with everything fbodfather has told us.

While I don't mean any disrespect, I would like to see confirmation from a few other sources before I fully believe that the LS3 is our base V8.

He did say that before the new DOHC V8 project was cancelled, did he not? Since GM is continuing on with it's pushrods, maybe the LS3 is more likely now? <Shrugs>

There were two completely different V8 engine projects. One for Cadillac, and one for trucks/sports cars. Both had OHC aspects (whether it was dual or not, )

They shelved the Caddy project - but the volume seller, the truck/car V8s are still slated for production. But a note for everyone here. The GenV's aren't going to start production untill 2010/2011....so don't get your hopes up for a Generation V engine at launch. Look instead for a modified GenIV engine.

+1

And I vote for the LSA, And I'll settle for the LS8... As options of course.

All I've gotta say is this....notice how Scott has dropped in quite a few other threads but the ones that have to do w/ engines?? A wink here and nod there about a gas cap location or even flat out telling people "those aren't the darn headlights" is really minor in importance to engines. Not even a shread of a hint....except for forget everything you know about engines.

Again, could be the LS3. But, this tells me^^that GM might have something up their sleeves for a Gen V...seeing as though we don't know much about them at ALL!!!

Tag,

I'm right there with you... I think Camero might have said something along the lines of "you won't be dissapointed" But really not many of our GM bubbas are saying much about the motors. And it's obvious they are active on the site so you know they see us complaining/speculating about what we want for engine options.... Maybe it's a bit of false hope... But, I'm holding out that, where engines are concerned, no news is good news.... For now.

Obiously I'd rather have them tell us. Then we can start bench tuning/dynoing our camaros... Damn I can't wait!

I can only hope that's the case. Because of the way I think though, it makes me worried the CAFE thing has caused a big problem and they are scrambling to find alternatives that won't be in an enthusiasts' favor.

I'm keeping my faith though
