Lets bring back the car building to America.
How about your a retard who knows nothing of what you speak of.

my Plant has blown every single american plant out of the water for quality in every segment, all 3 of our plants have for ISO and JD power and habour awards. Where did you get your lines of BS from?

Second of all, the Camaros and Impalas are not painted, they are dipped, then the paint is electrostatically charged to the body.

Thanks for coming out.

The paint seems thinner than my Magnum. The silver is not as deep and rich either but I think the colour is BEAUTIFUL. For this reason I 3M'd the ENTIRE car from the driver door forwards including mirrors too, rockers, bottoms of doors and parts of the rear.

I did this before I put any miles on it.

Hopefully this will prevent the insane chipping I used to get with the magnum's front until I got that 3M'd. It may be expensive but it has been worth it for both cars so far.

I havenet had to respray on the Magnum now for almost 3 years. Before 3M I was resprayed teh front 3 times!!

Ok. I don't know much about paint other than my cars have all had paint on them.

It is a bummer. Especially on black. I'm getting them too. But it's every car. Not just the Camaro.

Orange peel can be fixed but i would have a pro do it. This is not a do it yourself weekend warrior project. You can really mess up your paint if you dont know what your doing. To fix this problem do the following. You have to block sand it with that 2000 grit, its called color sanding. Basically the block shaves off only the high spots until its flat. Then, very carefully, with a power buffer and some polishing compound, buff the shine back. Google color sanding to learn more.

I am totaly amazed at the lack of orange peel on my car. I expected it but I got sooooooooo lucky. NO orange peel on mine.

you're going to see fine scratches, especially on a black car; don't do car washes that use bristles. if you have to do a car wash do touch free. when hand washing use microfiber cloths. i wouldn't wash too often either but that's just me. good luck.

Especially for black - wash and dry the car with micro fiber cloths. Try to avoid washing in circular motion, clean the washing clth after every few strokes, use a different rag/sponge to clean the wheel wells, air dam and wheels (a different bucket/water).

I have all Black cars and have learned over the years that it is almost impossible to avoid the spider scratches, etc... even when you take the greatest care.

One thing about orange peel, it makes the car a lot harder to scratch. If you hvae ever seen a black car with a professional paint job with no orange peel at all, then you know how clear and mirror like the paint is. I can also tell you that if you so much as run a dry, even micro fibre cloth, on a paint job like that - it will scratch.

pros & Cons. You cannot beat a clean waxed Black car! Mine should arrive any day now - I have instructed the dealer to not touch the car until I arrive.

If you keep it waxed smooth you can avoid the spider scratches just a little bit longer. But ya, NO way to avoid them.

I've seen the little spider scratches on a new black Corvette still in the showroom, but yeah they are impossible to avoid completely. My '96 sure has them. Luckily they only show up in certain light and not all the time.
