Great suggestion on pinching the hose. I wish I would have tried that now!!

Glad this thread could help you out though. I had towels in my engine bay on two different occasions before I actually did the mod because I was thinking it was going to be more difficult. But like most mod projects getting started is the most difficult part. Once you are started you just keep going and then say to yourself...that wasn't so bad after all.

For me the part I hated the most was when I removed the original brake master cylinder reservoir and had the fluid leaking out. I just hate leaking fluids into my nice new clean engine bay. Especially brake fluid.

I knew this was not a new mod. But when some people are new to the Camaro world and they don't know to search for it and existing threads are buried multiple pages deep in the sub-forum sections, it can seem "new" to the new Camaro fans.

So I thought I would start a thread just to show some of the newbies about this mod. I can tell it's raised some awareness in some of the newer forum members that did not know about this mod so I feel I've helped out some people and helped contribute back to this community.

I was not commenting on your thread, sorry if it read that way. My point is that there is a ton of history and validated results.

Tramtwo,
No I know that you were not knocking on the thread, just making a casual observation that some are viewing this as something "new" even though it's been around for a while. I was not offended or anything. No worries

I always enjoy reading your helpful mod posts and I guess I just thought I would share mine even though there are several others like it.

I just hack sawed a pc of aluminum into a bracket, filed it a bit, bought reservoir and some bolts, nylon lock nuts and epdm plug..... $30. I am putting clear motul 600 in it to see if it really gets as dark as people claim.

That's nothing.

My C6 would turn new fluid black after just one night of a few spirited shifts.

Thanks for the tips. Just installed the stage 1 kit over the weekend. Brake fluid looked like Pepsi and had black residue at top of brake reservoir (9200 miles). Clutch seems to work more consistently now with less chatter. Some shifts less notchy, but overall about same. Nice to have it separated.

Not finished yet, need to sand and paint black. Used hack saw, files, hammer and a few two by fours to bend it a bit. Bought SS bolts and nuts with nylon lock for reservoir to bracket. Got EPDM plugs at Napa for reservoir. DO NOT USE worm drive hose clamps, need to get the smooth ones.

Rebleeding car, diff fluid change, oil change, cleaning wheels and mocking up cooling ducts in front...... she's gona spend some time on the jacks.

I separated mine tonight wasn't to hard but damn its hard to get out all the fluid from that reservoir lol. I drove mine around the neiborhood after I got done to make sure everything worked fine and my fluid didn't look to much darker than the new brake fluid. Don't know if its cause I only have 2500 miles or not but I'm happy.

Question.....
I Did my separate clutch reservoir from JDP Motorsports some time ago and I was wondering, once you fill the clutch reservoir with the Motul 600 do you ever have to put more in again or flush and renew the fluid down the road? Or is it good for how long?

I change mine monthly at most. Some guys here change it per fill up. Dealers choice.
Just use a baster or syringe to pull out the old stuff.
