With all this talk of insufficient sized intercooler in the 1900, does anyone make a larger bolt on unit for the 1900?

There is no replacement unit made that fits inside the superchager. The system basically has 2 heat exchangers, one inside the supercharger and one in the grill and a pump runs the water between the 2 and maybe uses an extra reservoir of fluid as a bit of a heat sink. You can put a bigger exchanger in the grill and add a bigger fluid reservoir but when you spin the blower at 20000 rpm it gets temps over 300 degrees and that little Hx brick under it can only do so much.

Honestly the little brick under the 1900 does pretty well until you get over 650 whp. If you only intermittently push into power levels above that level the system will catch back up but if you try to keep power above those levels it just can't keep going.

I formally had an M6, stock bottom end with a Magna charger, 9 lbs. of boost and was shifting at 6,500-6,700 rpms.

Maggie was still making power yet after 2,000 miles with the supercharger and daily street driving romping on the car bottom end broke, piston shattered.

Good tune, AFR good and was not running lean. Understanding is the stock internals were set up for peak power at 6,0000 rpms and if shifting regularly close to red line plus with 9 lbs. of boost, heat would this cause a piston to crack? Only other alternative could be the tune had too much timing regardless of the AFR and not running lean.

Anyhow, ended up purchasing a 2014 A6, ample bolt ons.
Sure miss boost, hence looking into a GM certified pre-owned ZL1.

I am at 6800, I don't push it past 6500, but it is so nice to be able to get to the line without tripping the limitor, gee gm needs to loosen the noose a little on us drivers, the car was way to governed before.

On your LS3 factory rev limit is 6600 and we only move those 200 over stock to 6800.

We are seeing a lot of supercharged cars with inadequate fuel pressure/systems so it could have leaned out even if you didn't see it on the gauge.

If it shattered a piston it detonated.

Ted.

When tuned on a dyno this was with a high speed fan blowing air in the 70s, open hood yet showed 0 detonation even at 6,000-6,500 RPMs.
So, my assumption is out on the road in hot 100 degree Summer heat, high RPMs caused the engine to run hot, lean, detonate which did not register during dyno tuning.

If I proceed with purchasing a ZL1 or add a Magnacharger to my L99 reluctant to increase the shift points past 6,000 RPMs.
With the ZL1 would simply pulley it down to spin the maggie faster, and tune to increase boost/rwhp. No different than what the Dodge boys are doing on their 707 h.p. 2015 Challenger 6.2 liter supercharged SRT Hellcat or Ford with the Shelby GT500, just increased boost.

As for the L99 read the stock lifters are not strong, plus a high compression motor too.
So, reluctant to super charge it.
