Of course it's stuff like this that as more and more time passes with my Camaro that I wonder where that $35K went?
I filled up my Cobalt today and paid attention to this. It has a nice wide hook that works perfectly. They should have copied that. A holster seems like more effort than the added benefit is worth, and would probably be harder to slide the cap into. Seems amazing to me they can get the hook just right in my Cobalt and blow it on the Camaro. Sometimes I just don't understand how design decisions are made at GM. They got it right before, so its almost like they had to try to screw this up.

Is that true if you tighten it more than one click that your service light will come on?

What's the big deal? One click, two click as long as the thing is on.

Mine doesn't click more than once. It's not like the standard cap where you can keep turning it and clicking.

Well they should if you want your paint to stand up.

BTW.... seems some owners do not know. You touch the gas cap cover at 9 oclock and it pops open. Some have been prying them open.

There is a pretty simple solution here people. Cut the damn thing off, and lay it on the ground when you fill up!!!!!!!!!!! It's the first thing I did on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Isn't that the truth!!!! I have yet to fill it up without that damn thing coming off the hook and hitting the paint job. Where was quality control on this. Lets face it, with all the times gas was added to the test vehicles, don't tell me nobody alerted engineering to this problem.

Hah, wow, I was just letting it sit on the paint... though I set it down there very gently.

If someone within a block distance so much as farts that thing falls off.

Mine has stayed hooked ONCE of all the times I've tried using it....

I guess no one is awake to pass gas while I'm getting gas @ 3am.

I finally decided to try to use the hook for the first time last night, and it fell off right away. The cord that holds the gas cap is too stiff and doesn't flex enough, so it just pushes itself off. I usually just set it down gently, but this caused it to fall and hit my paint So I won't be trying that anymore...
